Strong Opposition from parents, teachers and coaches killed the legislative attempt to revamp the University Interscholastic League and allow private school students to participate in competitions. This bill would have changed Texas sports and not for the better. This is great news!

Yes, and the backers of this bill will probably be back every legislative term seeking the same thing! They want all the perks, but none of the sweat equity involved.

Old I am sure they will keep trying too but hopefully the opposition will keep coming. At least we don't have to worry about it for two more years. The UIL isn't perfect but it sure does beat what that bill would have produced.

I never doubted that would be the end result. I heard a lot of people that were worried, but eliminating UIL and the no pass/no play rule would just be crazy.
