Sorry guys, I was in a hurry to get to school this morning and wasn't able to go into detail. I was thinking about this last night, so I looked it up this morning. As far as I know, it was originally Dre's idea.

As far as the cutoff dates:
Thread of the Year (and a half)- Anything that's been posted since December 1, 2004

Newcomer of the Year- Anyone who's been registered since November of 2004. If they had just registered, they wouldn't have had time to get involved with many discussions. It's like MLB's ROY race... you're still considered a rookie if you haven't played in so many games (I think it's 132) before the start of a season or haven't been under a major league contract for more than two years.

Any games or player awards- Anytime during the 2005 season. Players must be members of the DL.

For any other awards- Anytime from Dec. 1 on is acceptable.

Dre had the awards throughout December, but anyone who was just registered or any great threads that were just getting started didn't have enough time to pick up steam.

There were actually a couple that came to my mind, too. Of course, the whole Gilmer debaucle is what spurred the idea, but there were several other things that caused a huge stir.

As a matter of fact, I was only thinking about Gilmer because I was wondering who would get the "Sportsmanship" award. For me, it was either Bullaholic or one of the Gilmer posters... most likely lostaussie.

Wednesday at noon I take the final tally. Any nominations received after that won't count.

The first poll, "Most Humorous Poster," will be posted Wednesday night at around 5 and will be cut off after 24 hours. When that poll expires, the next one goes up (The ROMmy Award... it goes in reverse order) until we get to "Poster of the Year" two weeks from Thursday. These polls will be posted from Sunday night (from Sunday @ 5:00 pm through Monday @ 5:00 pm) through Friday night (voting starts on Thurs, expires on Fri) so that everyone can have a weekend.

Ohhhhh, and one more thing: there's a surprise category that will go up sometime during the last week of voting and won't time out for a few days. Until then, my lips are sealed. No nominations are being taken for this category.

LOL, there are a couple of categories that are going to be tough to whittle down. I don't know if anyone will get more than one vote. For example, I currently have 10 separate nominations for 10 separate people in the category of "Most Spirited Poster."

You can bet some coin flips will be involved in the decision-making process.:D

Maybe. I'll tell you now that you've been nominated at least once, but I won't tell you how many nominations you have. :devil:

Only three nominees will make it to the final voting, unless the nominations are too close to make it just one. Then I'll use my executive authority to either put up more than three or throw my vote in the ring and break the tie (I won't vote until all the nominations are collected, and only in case of a tie). Player of the Year goes up next week.

LOL. I almost did a "Most Missed Poster" category, but opted out of it at the last minute. That was something that you certainly could've won. It was an idea brought up by Sinton 66 on the original Downlow Awards. I just figured that since it was already going to take two weeks to dole out all the awards, I wouldn't add another one.

I can't send you a final list until Wednesday at noon, but if you want a preliminary list I'll shoot that over to you tomorrow evening to give you something to work with.

Just keep the nominations secret until the day of the voting. It adds a little suspense to the whole process.
