i just tried to drive to rockport and made it as far as just north of aransas pass and had to turn around and come back. i've driven in tropical storms and hurricanes and this is every bit as hard. i haven't seen it rain this hard in years.

Definetely not. It's been raining here for 2 minutes now and I daresay it's already dropped a half an inch. This is ridiculous.

You were flooding? :D

Seriously, we get bad downpours here every year but this is the worst I've seen in at least 3 or 4 years.

This is rain, but nowhere near a BIG rain. When I moved back down here in 1984, there was a storm in October that rained 27 inches in 4-1/2 hours. Dang storm hung right over Sinton and Odem and dang near washed us away.

October always has big rains. I remember a couple of Octobers in a row about 10 years ago that had people in Portland using boats to get around.

I don't know how bad the rain is in Sinton, but where I am, we could probably get 27 inches of rain in 4.5 hours at this pace.

Unfortunately that's not good for my uncle. He needs rain bad in Reagan County. And it always seems to bypass the Midland area and points directly south.

My mom was a first year teacher at Welder Elementary that year. She loves to tell stories about that flood.

"SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING
INCLUDE...PORTLAND"

How am I going to get home? If Portland will experience flooding, I guarantee the roads I take to get home will be under water.

Gp83...do you know the current road conditions in the East Cliff/Northshore area?

My dad and I were just talking about that storm the other day. I remember it was a Friday afternoon and we were supposed to play Robstown that night. Because of the weather it got postponed until the next night. Strangely enough, it looked as though it had barely rained in Robstown. The field wasn't even muddy at all.

The one in October of 84 is the only time in my memory that I ever saw water over highway 77 in Odem. Right along the north end going in as far as the railroad tracks, it was about 2-1/2 feet deep on the highway. My wife lost our car to the flood on the way home that afternoon. It floated off that creek bridge.

Yeah, wasn't that in June/July as well?

We have weird weather in Corpus. It won't rain for 4 months, and then we get it all at once.

i rmember that. i was stayin on the riverwalk when the rain started. got caught at the alamo when a man offered us his umbrella. we said no thanks, but that was nice of him. when we got home, the next few days we heard the rain was still going strong
