I think he means helmet visors. But I'm not sure what the new rule is, our coaches always told us you could have them but they had to be clear. Pretty sure it was UIL rule to because I never see players with tinted ones.

im sure hes talking about the rule where you have to have a medical prescription from an eye doctor stating that for medical purposes you need a visor on your helmet. That has been a rule for a couple of years but UIL wants to strictly enforce it now

I don't get why, as long as it is clear whats the big deal? They should focus more on players being recruited, not pieces of plastic.

A visor would keep them from getting poked in the eye and
needing a doctor in the first place.

Anybody that has ever played HS football knows how dirty it
gets at the bottom of the pile.

That's the whole point though...

Ya see, Gilmer's gunna be doin' a whole lotta eye-pokin' this year, and the UIL is making damn sure they get away with it... visors would kind of stop that tactic in its tracks...

Gotta look out for them Buckeyes man... :p :D

That's why Barry Sanders wore a dark visor.(so they couldn't see
his eyes)

Was it just me or did every member of Dallas Carter have shaded
visors in Friday Night Lights???

for those of you that got to watch Carter play that year they had all sorts of little things like visors and fancy arm pads. They had so many little gadgets. They looked as good as they played.

Only thing I wore that was fancy was an under armor shirt and UA long socks with my nike gloves.

Is that the year they won state, but had it striped away a couple weeks later? Or was that even Carter at all??? It may have been a Houston school, come to think of it.

that was Carter. They beat Permian 14-9 in the semifinals in Waco and beat Converse Judson (I think) 31-14 in the finals.

I'm sorry for not making this post clear...i'm new...well here's what the UIL put on the website

Tinted Eye Shields Prohibited for the 2006-07 Season

The NCAA Football Rules Committee approved several rules changes during its annual meeting
February 6-8, 2006. One of those changes deals with the use of tinted eye shields for football helmets - Rule 1-4-5-s, Eye Shields. In the illegal equipment rules, only eye shields that are
completely clear will be allowed.

Therefore, waivers will no longer be given for tinted eye shields, regardless of circumstance.

The NCAA Football Rules Committee cited reports from the NCAA’s Committee on Competitive
Safeguards and Medical Aspects of Sport and the National Athletic Trainers Association, in which both groups supported eliminating this allowance. Both groups noted that there are alternatives to the helmet shields if an eye condition warrants protection (contact lenses, sport goggles, etc.).

i just think wearing a visor is apart of imtimidation in the game...i don't see what's so bad about having an unclear visor
