Do we know whether Jasper will stay 3A next year or move up to 4A?

I was told by someone the other day that Jasper's enrollment this year is lower than it was two years ago.

What I heard, is that we would remain in 3A, but we would move down to Division II. Since Newton is supposively moving down to 2A, it would be as if we took their spot. None of this is confirmed, but that is what a lot of people here are saying.

This is probably a stupid question - but how can we even speculate when the numbers aren't even due to be re-done until February?

I heard after the game on Saturday that Burnet would be 4A next year. I don't know where the info came from or if it is correct.

The word is both West Orange Stark and Silsbee are moving down to 3A and probably in the same district as Jasper. WOS enrollement might be more than Jasper and if that happens and they both make the playoffs next year then jasper would be Division 2. Newton going to 2A doesn't affect Jasper going to Division 2, but WOS being in the same district as Jasper would. That is if WOS makes the playoffs.

I think that wos will go to Bridge City's district and Silsbee to Jasper's. If Silsbee makes the playoffs, Jasper will go div 2. and so would Bridge City if WOS makes it. Should be interesting come Feb.

None of this is confirmed, but that is what a lot of people here are saying.Somebody correct me if I am wrong, but unless you are the largest or one of the two smallest schools in your district, you don't know for sure if you are division 1 or 2 until the playoff picture is settled. For instance; if you had 6 schools with enrollments of 900, 850, 800, 500, 450, and 400, and the smallest three schools made the playoffs, the school with a 500 enrollment would be division 1, and the other two would be division 2. Which teams are division 1 or 2 isn't decided by what figures are turned in. It is decided on which playoff teams from the district have larger or smaller enrollments. The team of the 3 that advances that has the largest enrollment of those 3, regardless of what that number is, goes division 1. The other two go division 2. Just my take.
