I don't know if this is true, and if it is, I have no clue when it happened. I just got this email though, and that is ONE big alligator.

This alligator was found between Athens and Palestine, Texas near a house. Game wardens were forced to shoot the alligator- guess he wouldn't cooperate... Anita and Charlie Rogers could hear the bellowing in the night. Their neighbors had been telling them that they had seen a mammoth alligator in the waterway that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations. "I didn't believe it," Charles Rogers said. Friday they realized the stories were ,if anything, understated.

These 2 pictures were taken by a KTBS helicopter flying over Lake Conroe!
That has to be a HUGE gator to have a whole deer in its mouth!

Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens had to shoot the beast Joe Goff, 6'5" tall, a game warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, walks past a 23-foot, 1-inch alligator that he shot and killed in their back yard.

Yeah in between Athens and Palesinte is no where near Lake Conroe. And I don't think Alligators get to be 23 feet long.

The story about the 23' alligator in Palestine is real. It is a record, the old one was 19'. The photos of it hanging from the chain is real as well. I read about it in our local paper.

The one with the alligator and the deer in Lake Conroe is the one that's BS.

After reading about it on the Snopes sight, I noticed that the picture of the alligator hanging was not included and figured they were probably two separate stories.

Yes RM, they are 2 seperate stories.

I know you have had problems with reptiles visiting your back yard. Could you imagine one of this magnitude chilling on your back porch????:)

its probably like the 'hogzilla' stories --- the 23' gator was probably a 15 footer that grew over the years

I don't think my trusty shovel would handle that particular reptile!

That is the real length and the photo of the gator hanging up is the real photo. It was 23' long, the longest one found, to this date, in the US.
