Thats about the age my daughter started swimming. Now she's a certified lifeguard, and has been giving swimming lessons for the last 3 years. Now she is getting her scuba certification at college. I think she'd rather be in the water than on dry land any day.

My kids loved to swim until we got a pool...now they very seldom even get in it.

Mine just always went to the city pool, or country club, or elks lodge. I think it's just more fun for them, at a big pool, with a diving board, and lots of other kids around. We talked about putting in a pool several times, but I just never wanted the hassle of the upkeep, and the liability. I know a family in Sweetwater, that got sued, after a neighbor kid drowned in their pool. Actually, his own sister pushed him in, and he hit his head on the side, and all the adults were inside at the time. It turned into a real ugly incident before it was all over.
