Could you Cuero people please get on the same page next time and not create two threads about it, thus doubling the chances for a jinx. :D

I dont know if I agree with pulling Oswalt. He has pitched a great game and I dont think I trust the bullpen even with a 7 run lead.

And I was unfortunately correct in being worried:(

Did you see the announcers' earlier quote on the Astros bullpen ERA (before this game!)? Almost 9.00!!!!!!!!

Hence why I want to drop this bullpen and completely start over. They are trash this year. Either that or mandate our starters pitching until the 9th and use a combined effort by all relief pitchers in the ninth because each is only good for about one batter.

c'mon astros lets get a run and hold on to the lead!

Phil C
06-25-2006, 10:13 PM
Incredible. If you can't hold on to win after being up 9 - 2 after 7 innings against any team is a cause for concern

Phil C
06-25-2006, 10:15 PM
Houston is used to this I guess. After the Astros messed up and couldn't win one game in the World Series last year and the Texans messing up not getting Vince Young probably gets you used to this type of thing.

that was when oswalt pitches.....now its well above that.....31.5 for this game...oh well mabye we can still win, this is really ridiculous though, most teams get prolly 2 grand slams a year we have given up 3 in a 3 game series this weekend, the astros r going no where if they dont wake up...only thing on our side is the rest of the NL Central is playing just as bad for the most part...

Worked last year...why not?

Better yet, I think the Astros should allow Oswalt to go out to the bullpen and kick every one of the relief pitchers tonight in the groin. Then maybe that will set an example for the rest of the relievers to not give up a lead. I cant wait until the bullpen blows a lead like this for Roger. He will seriously do the crotch kicking with or without consent from the Stros.

Phil C
06-25-2006, 10:21 PM
They probably should have let the Rocket get the save in the 9th inning. :(

I can already hear the response," if only the Astros had picked up Huston Street they wouldnt have closer issues"

sahen

Oswalt has said before he is just playing cause he likes it he cares more about his farm and such than baseball, they r lucky he didnt just throw his glove down and said "thats it, im going home, call me if u want to have another go at it next year"....

Phil C
06-25-2006, 10:24 PM
The Astros should have got Houston Street. He is a great closer doing great for Oakland. Houston let those UT boys slip away (Street and Young).

Morgan & Miller are doing a pretty good job of describing the Astros relievers and their performance!

are you kidding? Without Oswalt, the Astros get wasted tonight. Notice everything completely fell apart after he came out in the eighth.

thats the bullpen's fault, not just lidge's....he did have a 7-5 lead and gave up a 3 run bomb....btw....this year Lidge is 19 for 23 in save opportunities (counting tonight's game) and Street is 18 for 23, we'd pretty much be in the same place it looks like to me....
