The one at the end of Open Range is my favorite. I loe how when Costner is in outhouse and he blasts through the wall with the shotgun they actually used a shotgun sound. Some directors and sound editors are guilty of not matching calibers and sounds in gun fights.

The Tombstone gunfight with Doc Holliday, your no daisy, was good. But my favorite had to be the gunfight at the end of Shane. Shane ! Shane ! Come back Shane.

The North Field Minnesota Raid was one of he first westerns where when they fired their weapons it actually showed the gun kicking. Quiet a gunfight at the end.

Prolly gotta go with Open Range... but, allow me to give second place to TRUE GRIT.

The duke vs. a young Robert Duval on horseback and uttering a classic movie line...

"Fill your hands you Son of a ..."

Husband called me about 8:20 (he's in Rockport fishing) and asked me to record "Broken Trail" w/Robert Duvall on AMC tonight and tomorrow night....... I was reading the preview for Monday night's show and it says the same thing as tonight, does anyone know if the 1st part is Sunday and 2nd part Monday? That's what I assume but couldn't be sure.. sometimes they show back-to-back a couple nights in a row
** I have no idea if there is a gunfight, but figured those that read this thread, might know something about the movie lol:p

Don't forget the final showdown between Rory Calhoun and Alex Nicol in Dawn at Socorro. Man that left you like a limp rag when it was over. Such suspense!

As mentioned Shane was great as was the final gunfight in High Noon. And don't forget the great showdown at the end of Vera Cruz between Gary Cooper and Burt Landcaster - both of whom won oscars for other movies.

Who could forget that great gunfight at the end of the movie The Wild Bunch. In fact it had a great one at the beginning and in the middle too. Whew!
