LONGHORNS AUCTIONING OFF A PIECE OF HISTORY
Historical scoreboard ornament up-for-bid on eBay

Think you know a Longhorn fan that has everything? Think again!

Memorabilia collectors, Longhorn fans and supporters beware. A once in a lifetime gift or personal collectors/display item is now available at the on-line auction site eBay (ebay.com).

The item, a very large set of burnt orange Longhorn lights that set atop the north endzone scoreboard for nearly 20 years, served as a beacon in the night for several UT conference championship teams and last year's National Championship run.

The Horns on the north endzone scoreboard came down when the scoreboard was dismantled recently to make room for stadium renovations and expansion, but were salvaged intact and in good condition.

The Longhorns, framed in orange light, stand eight-feet, eight-inches tall and are 13-feet, 3-inches wide. The item has a depth of six-feet, 7-inches and weighs about 400 pounds.

The winning bidder will need to arrange for pickup and/or shipping no later than July 31st. Payment will be accepted by check to The university of Texas or by credit card (MasterCard, Visa or American Express).

The initial bid is set at $2,000 with the immediate purchase price set at $30,000. The proceeds from the auction will go to the Longhorn Legacy and be put towards UT's stadium expansion fund.
