I really believe that Burnet is going to take home all the glory this year with an upset over Everman at the state finals this year in Division 1. Burnet's coaching staff is great along with many key offensive and defensive specialists. Who can stop them, nobody in 3A that is for sure. Bring on 4A!!!
When Pigs Fly!!! Burnet WILL NOT bring home a ring, and I feel sure they won't even play for one. I agree about NO ONE stoping them, There is several that can. They wont get to play Everman because if they make it far enough Sinton will spank em!!!!!!!!!

jasper might have something to say about that. they'd be one of the favorites if they were still in 4A. the only team that has beat them was houton strake jesuit, 14-6. jesuit is the same team that beat bay city earlier this year. no doubt, though, that burnet fields a good team.

Burnet would have to pull 3 upsets in a row to win it all because they would be the underdog against sinton,jasper and everman. Well if one team has a shot at pulling this off, it might be burnet. Dont know much about jasper but i think sinton will get to play them and hopefully go on and meet everman for the state title again.

I've played, and then watched 3A HS football for over 25 years.
You've got to personally see the Jasper O-line to have a real appreciation for what they do to allow the backfield to perform.
They are not invincible but man are they strong!
Jasper wins D1 unless key players are injured and don’t play.

Burnet, as good as you are in district, you are still in a weak sister football haven.

The winner of the Sinton - Jaser Game wins it! I pick jasper. They are BIG STRONG AND FAST. Also I'm not totally convinced Jasper Wouldn't win the 4A D-1 crown if they were there. When you see this team you will come away impressed no doubt! eek!

Jasper has to be considered as one of the teams in the State Championship game. I know everyone is tired of hearing it but it is true. Jasper has the most talent I have ever seen on a 3-A team.Speed, size, and strength. Everyone is talking about speed but Jasper has one hell of a powerlifting program also. These are different animals than most people are used to playing. If they show up like they did against Newton then all I can say is DAMN! I don't think they can be touched. If they show up like they did against someone like Kirbyville, holding out players and not being motivated to play, then someone might slip up on them for a while but not beat them. All I know is that it sure would be nice to have TWO 3-A State Championships out of the same district.

I dont think Jasper can beat Sinton. Jasper may impress a lot of people but what they have done this season has not impressed me at all. They get beat by Strake Jesuit who lost to St. puis which was killed by Sweeny! Jasper was also held to 14 points by Kirbyville which is a team that is not know historically as being a good team. Jasper has been showing some high numbers but they haven't played anyone but Newton this year. Jasper has played a weak schedule this year and once the playoffs begin you will see a less flashy Jasper team. I may be dead wrong but looking at stats and schedule strenghts Jasper is getting way to much credit.

You can never tell for sure. Usually you can pick several teams every year and one of them will win but there have been exceptional years. I remember once when SAB (San Antonio Brackinridge - sorry if I misspelled) once was not even favored to win it's district and were not favored in their big district game (this was in 4A before there was a 5A) and then were not favored in every playoff game but they won all the way to state and won state. In fact when it was down to the final 8 teams and if the sportswriters and coaches had picked the least favored team to win State they would have been picked. It was a big surprise. So you never know when a team might get its act together and surpise people in the playoffs. This might be an exception year then maybe not but it does make it interesting.

Jasper lost to Strake. You need to check who played for Jasper and who didn't. Might it be that some key personnel were not available? Might that be the same thing in the Kirbyville game? Check the stats. Just wondering.
The Jasper team that played strake and kirbyville will not be the team that shows up in the play offs. The team that played Newton will show up. Beware the dogs!

My guess is none because if you had seen a game you would realize Burnet is not a one dimensional team by any means.
Aside from these boards and the Burnet faithful touting their team I guess everyone outside of here is dillusional as well. Why is it that most Texas HS sports writers/Sportscasters recognized Burnet before the season and even during pre-district games? I guess these people were dillusional to write about Burnets one dimensional offense which includes a QB, WR, and TB ranked #4, #3, and #5 in returning players in their respective positions (sasports.com).
Maybe Burnet isn't quite ready to play with the "big dogs" yet since I guess beating two ranked 3a teams and a ranked 4A team isn't enough for the nay sayers. Get used to the talk as long as Burnet remains in the playoffs. There are alot of good teams out there and to say Burnet doesn't even have a shot is ridiculous.

I wish I would have had a chance to see Sinton play this year, the way people talk they must be one hell of a team. Yall talk about them like people in this part of the country talk about Jasper. I just hope they meet up in State. Your right about one thing for sure though. Any team can beat any other team on any given night. Just keep in mind that coach Barbay of Newton stated that if they played Jasper 90 times they might beat them twice! This is coming from a coach that has beenaround a lot of football. Seems to have all the makings of a great game.

Beware the dogs!That's my point, in high school football teams can be very inconsistant, depending on "which team shows up". Also, injuries, illness (did everyone get their flu shots this year?), and inelegibility issues can ruin a team's chances. I do think it is interesting that Strake beat Jasper but lost to an average team like Sweeney. That is real evidence of this unpredictability that I alluded to in my earlier post. Such unpredictability makes the games more interesting and that is good. So, I respect Jasper and agree that they will be tough to beat, but not unbeatable. Bring on the games. wink

Speaking of Rings: I have a friend who played on Vernon's state championship team. His ring is awesome. That's one reason they play they play the game. He gets asked all the time about it. Anyway, it would be great to show the kids these rings at the start of the year--not that they play for the rings alone, but they are nice~ Can't even imagine have a couple of them as some of these lucky young men have earned.

I'm not gonna predict whos gonna win the rings cuz my thoughts on who was going to win last year didn't pan out. However, I do think the two teams with the best chance in D1 are Sinton and Jasper not Burnet. Burnet you may have a good team I haven't seen but I just think with Jasper moving down and Sinton just having a consistent program that they have a better shot. If you win more power to you but right now I don't see it.

Yes HS football is great. Kennedale beat Everman, which was an upset. but i trully think Kennedale will win Region 1. Depending on who they face in the State Semi-finals, kennedale could get to State and win..!!!

Ok as long as you played football last year I'm not mad about your opinion just because you played football and your not 40 and still gloating about your team. Your right we haven't been a powerhouse like the others in the state but thats why Coaches made our scheduale difficult so we can prove to everybody that we shouldn't be taken lightly. :D
