If I have said that, it's usually tounge-in-cheek since I am a ref myself and have met a few NBA refs over the last few years. If refs got paid off to cheat, we wouldn't be so grumpy all the time.

Yeah, that's all we've done. But you have to give credit to Miami for collapsing the defense into the paint when Dirk and JET get the ball. JET is on fire but Dirk is sucking it up right now--all series.

No... its because he's Human and that he can MAKE MISTAKES like everyone else.

I am arguing with you on this because I think you are trying to hold these guys to an impossible standard. Given the circumstances it is understandable to see their reactions. I don't think they have halos or are made of marble... they are just hot blooded competitors having to deal with a tough loss.

A reporter from Dallas asked Johnson "what was/is your impression of Wade's last drive that resulted in him getting the two free throws?"

Avery: Why don't you tell me what your impression was?

Reporter: was he fouled?

Avery: I'm asking you the question. We have people here from all over the world. From Minnesota, Miami, Dallas, Israel, Germany....why don't you explain to all of them what you believe happened....

Reporter: I dont know what you want me to say....

Avery: I'm asking you the question. What was your impression.
SILENCE

Avery: We are waiting....

Reporter: I dont know what you want me to say...maybe I'll just ask another question...

Avery: Ok, maybe you should

Reporter: He begins to ask another question....

Avery: Don't stutter. Ask the question...


Of course all above is pretty much parphrased by going by what I remember but that is pretty much how it went

Thats about on par with what he said. I agree that what he said was out of line and I also understand that he is only human. BUT when you are a human in that type of position, you cant let your emotions take over and completely humiliate a reporter from your home town on National TV.
