Isn't this game a do or die game? Also if the U.S. manages a tie now and a victory in their next game wouldn't that guarantee making it to the next round.

The soccer experts on ESPN2 said this is the biggest game in mens US soccer history.

The US goal was an Italian own goal.

One of the Italian players got a red card.

1. The USA red card was Bullpoop. I can see giving him a red card for that, but a red was pretty harsh.

2. I bet that Italian who scored the goal for the USA gets kicked out of Italy if they lose this game. :)

3. The Refs need to quit calling a foul everytime an Italian hits the ground.....i think the fouls are like 20-10 or something.

4. GO USA!!!

Eddie Pope out. This referee is horrible. Even the announcer is calling for his head.

oh, and did anyone else see the guy get taken off on a strecher and then come back into the game a minute after being taken off? thats one of the reasons people don't like soccer right there.

They bring out a stretcher every time someone falls on the ground. Its rediculous. Soccer players are 10 time better floppers than NBA players.

Manu Ginobli would do great in soccer, he takes about as many dives as the Italians do. :)

Yep. This puts us right in the thick of things. If Italy beats Czech and we beat Ghana, we're in as the second-place team.

We can also sneak in if:
-We beat Ghana by 5 points (which will be tough)... that's an automatic bid to the Round of 16. Depending on what happens in the Italy/Czech game, we could get first in our bracket and avoid having to play Brazil in the next round.

-Both the US and Italy wins by a combined 5 points.

-Both the US and Czechs win by a combined 6 points.

We suck so bad at soccer the Italians had to score a goal for us. I watched most of this game and other than an Italian getting "kneed" in the buttocks while on the ground ( man that sounds dirty) and an American who got elbowed above the eye, I saw a bunch of flopping and faking. This from an American who's never played the game, so take it for what it's worth.

The game was played in Kaiserslautern last night, and Ktown is a 15 minute train ride away. I went with my son, and we had a blast. We didn't have tickets, but we walked the World Cup mile for hours. I was shocked and proud to see so many Americans showing their colors. Red, white, and blue everywhere. We took turns waving our big American flag. A couple of hundred thousand people.

Italy is a good team, so a 1-1 tie is not as bad as it sounds. I honestly think they could've won this game. While I agree that some of the players could win an Oscar for their injury drama, it's all just part of the game. Never before have I been so into the World Cup. I have World Cup fever bad!

GO U.S.A.!!!!
