Saengerhalle in New Braunfels

Saw this on a news site...this is one of the oldest dancehalls in Texas.

I’m sad to report that Saengerhalle, the old German hall in New Braunfels, has closed! However, regulars Cody Canada, Wade Bowen and Stoney LaRue sent it out with a bang last week. I hear a church group has bought it.

A couple of good friends of mine from Boerne came really close to buying it a few years ago but passed on it to open a Farmers insurance agency.:doh:

Never got to make it to sanegerhalle... may have to go to church there one day with my guitar...

They had a big group trying to save the Halle on myspace, but the guy who was funding the thing didn't get his bid in on time. That church group had already put their bid in.

The guy who was at it (I think his name was Ryan) was hoping against hope that the owners wouldn't close on that deal, but it just wasn't meant to be.

It was a neat little place, but definitely overshadowed by Gruene Hall. It had faded quite a bit in the past five years or so.
