Sarasota, FL - According to the Florida State League office in Daytona Beach, the 2006 Florida State League All-Star teams have been announced for this year's game to be played in Lakeland on Saturday, June 17th at Joker Marchant Stadium.
The Sarasota Reds received two all-star selections for the Western Division squad after the voting was completed by Florida State League managers, official scorers and media representatives from around the league.

Pitcher Homer Bailey (La Grange, Texas) and Outfielder Brandon Roberts (Bakersfield, California) have been named as the Sarasota Reds all-star selections and will represent the Reds in Lakeland later this month at the mid-summer classic.

Bailey, a right-handed pitcher, and the Cincinnati Reds top prospect for the second straight year according to Baseball America, has been impressive in High A ball despite just turning 20 years of age earlier this season. Bailey leads the Sarasota Reds in innings pitched (56.2), strikeouts (64) and is holding opposing hitters to a team low .211 average. His 64 strikeouts rank him fourth in the Florida State League. Bailey was selected by the Reds in the first round (7th Overall) of the June 2004 first-year player draft.

Roberts, a left-handed hitting outfielder, has been the leadoff hitter for the Reds all season long. Roberts, hitting at a .285 clip, leads the Sarasota Reds in at-bats (207), hits (59), runs (37) and stolen bases (21) while playing a solid centerfield. His 37 runs and 21 stolen bases are both tied for second in the Florida State League. Roberts was selected by the Reds in the seventh round of the June 2005 first-year player draft. He was selected to the Pioneer League's year-end all star team in Billings in 2005 during his first professional season.
