At the U.S. Army All American Bowl Peterson donned an OU cap and announced his college choice to a national TV audiance. "One of my goals is win a national championship," he brashly proclaimed, "and they (Longhorns) didn't fit into that catagory."

Actually I wouldn't have made any comment it on it but AP did knock UT when he signed and kept knocking UT at OU. There is nothing wrong with wanting to win a national championship - in fact that is only a natural goal of any athlete but you shouldn't knock any other school or schools (Yes I know these are young athletes but still they are old enough to know better). I don't even like it when UT athletes knock other schools.
When CAT Osterman came to UT she said it was her goal to win a National Championship for Texas in softball. She said it with class and didn't knock any of the other schools and even though she didn't get that goal she had an outstanding, classy career here.

Hey KTJ he also was quoted during recruiting that players got better at Oklahoma than at UT which is one reason why he chose Oklahoma. Also he said later it was due to better strength and conditioning coaching. Well we did alright too in the RRS out last year and the UT fans there gave him the well deserved business. :)

Please explain how Texas finishes in the top 2 or 3 EVERY year in the Sears Directors Cup. Since I'm sure you don't know what that is...it's a trophy given to the school with the best all-around athletic program. Stanford wins pretty much every year because they compete in many sports (gymnastics, mens soccer, lacrosse, cross country, rowing, the list goes on and one) that Texas doesn't compete it.

Texas has many players from Texas on it's team because there is enough talent within the state that they don't have to do a lot of recruiting outside of the state. The same is true at USC, UCLA, Ohio St, Tennessee, Georgia, LSU, Florida, Florida St, and Miami...amongst others. Oklahoma on the other hand recruits from Texas because the talent pool is much weaker in their own state than it is in Texas. Also, there is enough talent in Texas that Texas, Texas A&M, AND OU can all have Top 10 recruiting classes while pulling from the same talent pool.

2005 vs TCU...22 carries for 63 yds, 1 TD
2005 vs UCLA...23 carries for 58 yds, 1 TD
2005 vs Texas...3 carries for 10 yards, 0 TD's
2005 vs Texas Tech...29 carries for 108 yds, 2 TD's
2005 vs Oregon...23 carries for 84 yards, 0 TD's

The Tech game was his most "impressive" performance...and he only averaged 3.5 yards/carry.

Some stats from DCTF. Couldn't find last year's or the '01 issue, but these represent the kids who are still playing Division I-A ball.

As you can see, three states dominate recruiting year-in, year-out. FL has averaged a little less than 250 D I-A prospects per year since the mid-90's. Meanwhile, Okie's struggling to find 40 while feeding two major Division I schools... and many of those 40 aren't good enough to play at an Oklahoma or Okie State. Therefore, they, along with Nebraska, Kansas State, Colorado, Arkansas, and tons of other major schools come to Texas to feed their teams.

So what other states churn out the Division I talent?

The list is short. Ohio and Georgia are the only two states that consistently turn out at least 100. Each averages between 120 and 150 prospects per year, but GA almost always has more than Ohio. Beyond that, Louisiana and Alabama will occasionally (albeit rarely) break 100.

I have been a UT all my life!!! Im not on the wagon!! I hate when a team finally gets something accomplished and someone always has to put them down, saying that it was a one man team and all that BS.

I have bled orange my entire life. Some might say that I was raised the right way. I have been p.o.ed and happy many times over and over. I think steer fever is some 15 yr old high school kid shooting off his mouth and has no backing for what he says. Sure a few UT guys got busted with weed. Some Miami guys got busted many times, some OU guys got busted many times, alot of Florida State guys got busted for all sorts of things. No one has said they were the best team ever. And no one here said they will go undefeated and win another NC. I personally think we lose 2. However, we can still make a BCS game.

If that happens, our season is a success.

I respect Steer's right to his/her opinion and I agree about being excited about CAT crying on National TV because that still meant that UT was in the final 8 in college softball where any of those final 8 teams can win. Where was Oklahoma? Wait till CAT pitches at the 2008 Olympics in 2 years.

Yes, it's true ever since UT won the title everyone out of the blue falls head over heels in love with them. Please people quit hopping the wagon ever time a team does well.

Just b/c you are from texas doesn't mean you have to root for the longhorns. I'm not a longhorn fan and not really a big OU fan but i root for the aggies all the time.

i just don't like how the longhorns and their fans acted after they won. young doesn't respect anyone but himself his EGO gets the best of him as it does with the rest of the program.

it is my opinion and i just think that UT is classless in how they handle wins and it's really disappointing to see how all the bandwagon jumpers are so in love with this school.

their whole entire athletic program is a joke.

I seriously think you don't understand decorum and respect for starters. Why lash out at 50% of the populance here and expect them to *gasp* defend their teams or bring up holes in much of what you say? Is it your life goal to play devil's advocate to everyone out there/ here in Texas? If you are doing this for kicks and grins and you're the only one laughing then what does that say about you?
