You'd have to drive to Fal because 106.3's signal doesn't reach much farther than Premont

Congrats to L-E on winning the state title!!! I'm pretty sure that coming into the tourney with 14 losses and having to face Bridge City in the semis, not many folks gave them a chance. But they got it done.

Kudos to Falfurrias on a great season and making all of South Texas look good in the process!

Zach Fowler, the coach's son, did an outstanding job of pitching tonight. And he is a junior. that means that LE has both Middlebrooks and Fowler will be returning next year. The catcher is also a junior. The 2B is a sophomore and the DH is a freshman. Look out for them next year.

Several of the L-E fans said Fowler pitched his best game of the year tonight.

L-E runs were scored on a passed ball and a wild pitch.

In looking back, one of the big plays was when Trey Alegria led off the 2nd with a triple and then Fowler got a groundout to SS where they held the runner on 2nd and then he struck out the next two batters. Missed opportunity for Fal.

Fowler got MVP of the tournament. Could have easily gone to Middlebrook but both players did a good job.

Congrats to L E On a fine finish to a great season.

Your team and fans were nothing less than a class act! You guys played smart, tough ball all night against us, while BC played tried to play long ball against a great arm on the mound. Your gutsy one-base-at-a-time style has payed off great dividends for you!

Again, Congrats from BC.

Do you find yourself cheering for one team over another based soley on posters on this board??

As far as I know, we have no LE posters here, but I have gotten to know Fal44 from the board AND the chat....I think that was solely why I was cheering for them.

RM one of the greatest comedians, actors, singers, acrobats etc was Cantinflas from Mexico. He was called the greatest comedian by Charles Chaplin himself. I don't remember the name of the movie (it was made in the 50s and Montequilla was also in it) but in one of them Cantinflas inherited a fortune from an uncle who lived in Falfurrias

Remember my father ran the Freer Drive In Theatre from 1950 to 1965 and Spanish movies were shown on Tuesday nights and we showed Cantinflas regularly. Plus the video store at the old movie theatre when it was opened had lots of his movies for rent.
The top actors during that time when we had our biggest crowds were 1. John Wayne 2. Cantinflas and 3. Elvis Presley.
Other popular stars from Mexico were Antonio Aguilar, Luis Aguilar, Flor Sylvestre (Antonio's wife), Pedro Infante (Very Good), and many character stars such as Sara Garcia, Montequillar and Andres Soler.

But our biggest biggest draw was from an old Ernest Tubb movie in the early 50s (and that movie was about 10 years old when we showed it). We were about a mile from town and cars were in line all the way to town. I was too young to remember this but my father told me. We had to let one group in to watch the movie and when it was over we let the rest in to see it and people gladly waited in their cars to get the second movie.

Since this school is now so famous, I want to remind everyone how to pronounce "Eylau."

Say the words "eye low" and you will be correct.

This is one of the most mispronounced names in Texas. I'd say it ranks right up there with "Refugio." I can almost guarantee you that not one person in 10 or maybe even 100 can pronounce that town's name correctly up in this part of the state.

The problem with South Texas is it never completely adopted the English language. I would say its language is "Spanglish."

I'm assuming by the screen name that this person is either from Gilmer or Ohio. Either way, this does not qualify someone on being an expert on South Texas.

A man wondered how Refugio was pronounced as he was driving through the town so he stopped at the local Dairy Queen in Refugio and asked one of the young ladies working there "How do you pronounce the name of this place?" And she very slowly replied to him "Dairy Queen."
