It's been a long time since Jasper didn't make the top 25. It may never have happened since they've been in 3A.

I would switch #1 & #2. I think Giddings is rated a little too high. They still haven't totally convinced me that they are that good yet. I think Wimberley is ranked too low!!! Just my two cents.!!!

No Liberty Hill, Jasper, or Taylor. I can think of several on that list that I think any of these three could beat. But, it gives us something to talk about anyway

Typically you can put the least amount of stock in the DCTF poll.

No, I think the boys will be fine but those rankings(especially from DCTF) are just for pre-season chat and all.:)

Jasper should be a force, but a lot of Jasper folks are saying they expect a sub-par season. I'll believe it when I see it.
We played 4, 7 and 9 in the postseason last year, and I'm surprised to see Giddings as high as they are. Their QB was quick, but they really didn't seem to have a lot else. Obviously, I'm shocked to see Wimberley out of the Top 5.

IMO, Wimberley is only ranked as high as they are due to being the defending champs. They lost almost all their studs on defense and their QB. They should be 15-25 just because of all they lost, but if their coaching staff does as good of a job as last season, they could end up being a contender late.

I certainly don't see Jasper being a force this year, but I hope the boys surprise me. I think Jasper will battle it out for the last playoff spot and I won't be surprised if they don't make it.

Not sure if you were being serious or not so I'll just go ahead and answer like you were serious.

First off, they have one of the top coaching staffs in the state of Texas. They are able to produce a solid team year in and year out. Hence the 5 undefeated district championships and state title in 2004.

On offense, Gilmer will have, I believe, 9 starters returning from a team who avaraged more than 40 points per game. Add one of the top QBs in the stats, G.J. Kinne, and you have an amazing offence. At WR they have Curtis Brown, a UT commit, as the main threat. He has great hands and speed and vision when running the ball. He will beat you through the air and on the ground via the end around. Also watch out for Lamar Harris, Jamell Kennedy and Jake Ashley at WR. All are great route runners with great hands. Running the ball, you have Justin Johnson. He is a junior and is the favorite to be the top RB in the nation his senior year. He has break away speed and the strength to run you over. Just ask several of Gilmer's opponenets last year. Add a big and experienced offensive line and you have a very potent offense that will be very hard to keep out of the end zone.

On defense, Gilmer will be returning, I believe 7 or 8 starters. Although they gave up 61 to Canton in the playoffs last year they will be very tough this year. Watch out for Dominique Buchanon and Justin Johnson, they will knock the snot out of you. Both play linebacker and are both able to cover WRs well.

Gilmer and their fans have a lot to look forward to this year. A 6th consective undefeted disrict championship is expected as well as a deep run into the playoffs.

On a side note, should Gilmer and Liberty-Eylau make the playoffs this year, then the preseason #1 and #3 teams will meet in the 1st round of the playoffs. How is that for a 1st round match up?

Rankings have nothing to do with it that is right WYlie was ranked 3rd or 4th and Snyder was 10th and Snyder won again for the second year in a row. Could both years have been a fluke:eek:

I'm actually kind of glad not to see Sinton in the rankings this year. It is pretty safe to say that next season is definitely going to be a rebuilding year for the Pirates. Let them earn their spot. I am glad to see Ingleside make the cut.

Wimberley being ranked #9 is good cause last year the Texans were ranked the exact same and they won it all and they will be just as good if not better this year no matter how many starters they lost.

I am glad Monahans did make this poll most west texas teams that make this poll are doomed unless you are a Wylie or a Sweetwater, look at snyder last year number 3 please. Is the padilla poll still doing this poll. Sweetwater should be a top 10 in my opinion as for Snyder number 11 this poll master must love yall you are a top 30 team in my poll and that is still reall good top 50 in 3a is good. But dont worry I will not post my poll.
