No one is reporting the scores and I am sure they were to be played today. Let's get with the program people!

Fear not, Phil C. It is my understanding that GWOOD was not able to attend today's games, but starting tomorrow he will be available for his usual excellent baseball reporting and analyses. In the meantime, I bet somebody will post some of today's reults as soon as they are obtained. DON'T LOSE YOUR COMPOSURE 'til then, Phil.

According to the Wichita Falls Times and Record News they say that Holliday has made it to the finals 4 times, but made no mention of ever winning a state title. This sixth straight appearance is a record setting appearance. Their 11 appearances makes them 4th of all time all classifications.

That is indeed a little shocking, I expected BC to win it all. Just goes to prove any one of the last four can do it under the right circumstances.

a post from smoaky.com that i found interesting

The success Liberty Eylau has had in the playoffs makes an awfully strong argument for scheduling the best teams you can find to play early in the season. There were comments on this board about the Leopards "mediocre" record. If you look at their season they started out 4-9. In those 13 games only two were against 3A competition and those were against the toughest 3A teams they could get to play - Carthage and Lindale. The other 11 games were against 4A and even 5A competition. They lost more than they won, but by the time district rolled around they had been toughened up by the competition they had faced. In the playoffs, they had no reason to think that weren't supposed to win against 3A teams with gaudy records.

Angelle could not get it together tonight nor could the Cardinal defense. Angelle gave up 5 runs (3 unearned runs) in 5 innings tonight on just 4 hits but he walked 5 batters and the Cardinals committed 3 errors. Then the relief pitchers came in and they walked 5 more batters.

L-E scored 7 runs on their 5 hits, helped by errors and 10 walks. However, Middlebrooks for L-E was up to the task. Everyone was watching Angelle but Middlebrooks stole the show. He gave up 5 hits and only 1 walk in 7 innings and struck out 8. Kid has some pop on his fastball, has an effective offspeed pitch, and hit the corners and kept the ball low. The 3 runs he gave up were unearned as well as an error started a rally for BC in the third. But other than that inning BC never got a runner to 2nd.

Wow! It's too bad really. I wonder if the draft had anything to do with his performance or if it was just "one of those off nights". It happens to the best of 'em. Kid has a bright future ahead of him!!

What are your thoughts on tomorrows game???

Honestly, I don't see anyway L-E winning this game tomorrow without Middlebrooks pitching. But......I also picked Carthage, Lindale, and Bridge City over them and I also picked Wylie over Falfurrias ... so what the heck do I know?

Don't sell yourself short. ;) I think it'll be a dog fight, but I believe Falfurrias will just have too much for TLE in the end and the trophy comes home to REGION IV!!

My wife and youngest daughter are here with me. Son is in Mexico on a church mission trip. They dropped me off about 1 pm today and i called them at 10 to pick me up. They are doing anything but go to a baseball game.
