Sure does look like McKinney North is having great success these last few years in athletics. McKinney High was never this great. Did all the athletes go to North when it opened up? Is it the same situation with Plano losing its athletes when Plano West opened?

Someone on this board works in that area. And will McKinney Boyd have athletes as well? I know Mike Robinson was a finalist for this HC job.

McKinney ISD set up a "horseshoe" around the schools, meaning that one side of town wouldn't be McKinney High and the other side being McKinney North. This was created to equal out student population and keep certain neighborhoods from dominating one school. For example: Stonebridge or Stoneridge, can't remember the exact name is a prestigious community in McKinney. Kids who live in this subdivision go to both McKinney and McKinney North. There are district boundaries but again they were created to make equity. In Plano, Plano West is now seen as the "rich school", while Plano and Plano East don't get that recognition.
McKinney North has excelled in sports over McKinney High due to coaching and kids putting that program on the map so to speak.
It doesn't really have anything to do with one part of McKinney producing better athletes. It comes down to the coaching staff and desire of the kids to excel at their respective sports.

Has the 5th high school for Frisco been built yet? Or are they on #4?

As someone who works in MISD, it's hard to put the finger on why MNHS is having such a great year ... well, maybe not. Coaching and leadership have been huge. But, with Boyd opening in the fall, our girls soccer coach (remember, he won state) will be going to Boyd and our baseball coach (who will be at state this week) also is going to Boyd. Our offensive coordinator became the head FB coach.

We have 31 seniors on the FB team, so next year will still be very good, but look for a power shift in two years (when Boyd has its first senior class).

the answer is probably that North just happens to be in an up cycle and have lots of really good athletes at this time .... MHS could be the same way in a few years - so could Boyd HS

don't try to make it more complicated than it probably is (IMO)
