Which team has the toughest schedule next season?
I think Sweetwater would be in the "running" for toughest schedule.

Always "method" to my "madness", P4S... :D But, I was serious about Sweetwater having a pretty tough schedule.

The district is arguably not that tough, but the games before district definitely are. Even though two of the opponents are 2A, one is last year's 3A, II champ and the other is a traditional power. Then you have Atlanta, which was champ in 2003.

On Sweetwater's schedule...there are some big ? marks.

WFHS has dropped off the last few years and (surprise, surprise) WF Rider has been the #1 WF team.

Brownwood was down last year but very young. It's hard to doubt them because that are a traditional powerhouse though.

Decatur has a good system...but do they have the players to step up and get them back to the level they were at a few years ago? Last year with Cobb they were a good team...but nothing to write home to mom about.

Canyon...can't argue with them. Returning a stud at QB and a lot of players from a top notch team.

Big Spring was a mediocore team that won a game (and lost a shootout to EP Chapin) in the playoffs because there is nobody in West Texas in 4A except for Plainview and Frenship.

Borger needs to hurry up and show that they can compete with any of the top schools in 3A. They don't beat Perryton or Canyon that often...and they don't play anybody else!

Sinton by far has the toughest schedule this year indeed! And I am just talking about regular season games. You don't want me to get into the tough scrimages and playoffs coming. Here is the schedule:

Sept 1, 2006 Cuero - As usual Cuero will be a top ranked team. What a way to start off against this powerhouse!

Sept 8, 2006 - At Gregory-Portland who has done very well in the playoffs the past several years and is always tough. And they are 4A!!!!

Sept 23, 2006 - Beeville Jones - another 4A school that does very well in the playoffs in 4A. Very scary indeed!

Sept. 29, 2006 Robstown - another 4A team that is starting to be competitive and very dangerous.

Oct. 6, 2006 at Port Lavaca - what another (4th) 4A team that has also been improving the past several years and getting good. Plus the game is in Port Lavaca. That increases the risk.

Now we get into District 30 AAA competition and it doesn't get any better.

Oct 13, 2006 at Orange Grove. UIL didn't do us any favors putting this powerhouse in our district. This is a team that always does well in the playoffs and very scary indeed.

Oct. 20, 2006 Corpus Christi West Oso Bears - another team that does well in the playoffs that the UIL put into our district. And as you all know you must "BEWARE OF THE HOWLING BEAR!"

Oct 27, 2006 at Mathis - another tough team that gave us a scare last year in Mathis where they always play extra tough. Remember this team went to State back in 1999. Very scary indeed. Plus we have to remember that Mathis will have major improvements added to their stadium this year and will be extra fired up. More worries!

Nov. 3, 2006 at Aransas Pass - they were good enough to beat a great Ingleside last year and their new coach has them moving in the right direction. Most worrisome indeed.

Nov. 10, 2006 Ingleside - they have young dynamic coaches that have got them in the playoffs the last two years and are very tough indeed. A tough game to have before the playoffs!!

Hence you can see this is a tough schedule indeed. Most likely the toughest in the state. A team that has gone far in state the past several years and will be most highly ranked, then 4 tough 4A schools (!!!) and then the toughest district in the state with 2 top additions to make it worse than it was (and it was already very tough anyway). Very scary indeed!

Wylie's may turn out to be very tough for them if the team has a "down year" in the fall.

Sep. 1, 2006 BROWNWOOD
Sep. 8, 2006 AT IOWA PARK
Sep. 15, 2006 GRAHAM
Sep. 22, 2006 BIG SPRING
Sep. 29, 2006 AT WOLFFORTH FRENSHIP
Oct. 6, 2006 AT WIMBERLEY
Oct. 13, 2006 AT CLYDE
Oct. 27, 2006 SWEETWATER
Nov. 3, 2006 AT BRECKENRIDGE
Nov. 10, 2006 COMANCHE

Phil C

What is worse is that our first scrimmage is with Taft who has been one of our long time rivals and they will be tough in that scrimage. A risky start indeed.

Phil...as always your previews have me falling out of my chair laughing!!! Glad I shut the office door! ;)

My favorite part is this:

Oct 27, 2006 at Mathis...Plus we have to remember that Mathis will have major improvements added to their stadium this year and will be extra fired up. More worries!

That is one of your best lines ever Phil. The reviews you write pretty much convince me that Sinton would be better off just forfeiting the season than facing such a murderer's row of a schedule. You might lose a few kids with that kind of schedule...like LITERALLY lose them! A very scary fall ahead in Sinton!

What is the point of these threads? Everyone just post their own schedule, and Forney byfar has the hardest schedule of any team in Texas, or so someone I don't know from Forney tells me.

Again...It's off season. It is hard to post threads that are unique. Most folks seem to like to reply to the "old standbys"----at least folks will make a post---and yes, it may be a "homer" post. If somebody offers free pizza to a starving man---do you think he asks...."But don't you have any pepperoni?".

I'm fixing to eat some left over pizza from last night. I'd rather have it hot and fresh, but oh well. Beggars can't be choosers.

I have the toughest schedule of you all...

(edited my original message, may not have been taken the way I though it would)...

I forget whose schedule I saw the other day but it seemed pretty stiff seeing how many teams on their schedule had great success as recently as this past season...

Humm, just an ol country boy from IP, but didn't Old High beat Rider 41-7 this last season. Heck, my Hawks played Old High tougher 'n that!!
