I am at the state tournament and will keep the board updated.

Right now at 7:15 we are still in a rain delay for the 2nd Class AA semifinal between Weimar and Celina. When we restart, it will resume in the 2nd inning.

Tournament is running about 2 plus hours behind. The Columbia and Barbers Hill semifinal game should start around 10:00 pm.

Each position has a number
P - 1, Catcher - 2, 1st - 3, 2nd - 4. 3rd - 5, SS-6, Left field -7, Center - 8 and Right -9
If it is a fly out to the center fielder it would be F8, if the SS threw the person out at first it would be 6-3

THANKS for the support Tiger!!
I have a happy life. No--I am not upset because we got beat by a region 4 team.....I just wish reg 4 would realize that with the EXCEPTION of WC, SInton, and I am sure there are a FEW more tough teams, but come on......BH, Splendora, Bellville, La Grange, Sealy, China Spring, Robinson, Rockdale, and I could go on.......

I saw who WC played and they had a tough schedule and won!! In no way am I trying to take anything from WC--they deserve to be where they are....... I even have a family member who is part of the program there, but let the truth be told------they would have had a much more difficult road to drive had they been in region 3----you can even ask the WC coach and I am sure she will tell you....and in no way am i saying they wouldn't have made it out----i:)

You're gonna start a war, coach. LOL
I said several times earlier in year in order to win it all, you have to not only be good, but also lucky and playing your best ball when it counted most. BH was doing that in region, but made couple mistakes against WC. WC got some big hits and their pitcher controlled BH bats.
I thought Splendora was team to beat in Reg 3. They had knocked off Little Cypress Mauriceville in warmup game. Mauriceville is at state in class 4A. Most of the other people who were picking favorites in reg 3 had Rockdale, with some support for Bellville, Barbers Hill and a few others. I don't know if anyone looking at it objectively had anybody but Columbia picked in reg. 4
Bellville beat Halletsville 11-0 in Halletsville earlier in year and La Grange beat them 8-0. Halletsville went to region 4 semifinals and took sinton to 3 games.
I do feel there are more good teams in Region 3, but IMO, the best softball played is within about a 100 mile radius of Houston. This includes West Columbia.
Good luck, Lady necks. Bring the title back to our area code.

You are right BTEX. Luck is a part of it. I remember when we won our last state championship in baseball when Adrian Alaniz was playing we were fortunate in the draw. There were 4 good teams their besides us (Sinton) which were Forney, Abilene Wylie and Lorena. We played Wylie in the semis so we used our main ace, Adrian, because Wylie probably had the best batters and with Adrian pitching we held them to one run I think and won 4 to 1. Then we played Forney who had a great pitcher but he couldn't pitch against us because he had to pitch a long game the night before against Lorena in a 1 to 0 win. We had a second pitcher who was good in Jason Adams and he did great against Forney and our batters got the runs in and we won 5 - 0. But the luck of the draw is very important.

Sealy mom can't stand it any more, she has to put her 2 cents in too!! :D :D

West Columbia would be a great team in any region that they are playing in. In any state.
Anyone that has ever seen their pitching and defense would have to agree. The Select teams from that area have always been hard to beat, even on a bad day.
Next year, when WC moves to Region 3, they will be the team to beat.

The teams that I saw early on in the season that were pretty tough in Reg 4, were Sinton, Wharton, Goliad and some others whose names escape me at the moment.
I heard that Liberty Hill, Devine, and a few others were really good teams too, just never got the chance to see them.
It all really depends on which day you are watching.

 And come on, you really have to admit, that Barbers Hill did a great job this year going through the bracket and making it to Austin. Knocking off Bellville, Splendora~~both great teams.

Wow I feel better now, why don't we all quit analyzing the regions and just get along.:D And congratulate the girls that played this year!!

Welcome aboard, 3ASoftball4Mom----great to see another lady and mom who knows and loves her sports. You're going to fit in just fine with the other "moms" on the Downlow.

Thanks for the welcome Bullaholic!!!
With the other moms behind me, I might make 25 posts.
I violated the playground rules earlier so I'm in a bit of trouble with the posting police. :D
