The Fairfield Eagles retained their unbeaten record last night with a solid victory over a much improved Trinity Tigers squad. Fairfield had over 420 yards of total offense while holding Trinity to 58. That is Fairfield's 4th consecutive opponent held under 100 total yards. Fairfield moved the ball pretty easily while spreading the ball around to 7 different receivers, while they also had 7 different people have carries in the game. They showed their balance and versatility on offense once again. Turnovers and penalties were also plagueing the Eagles though. They lost 3 fumbles in the 1st half and had a interception in the end zone on one of their final drievs. A block in the back penalty on a punt was also what set Trinity up for the safety that produced their only points of the game. The 2nd half was a lot more consistent for Fairfield though and it seems as if the offense is trying to open up and come around. They currently are at 2-0 in district and have a big showdown with Teague this next week, who had a big win at Mexia 38-14. Good luck to the Eagles.

Eaglefan,
Just a question. How can you say that Trinity is much improved when they only scored 2 points. Were they really bad before they played Fairfield?

yes, they are very much improved. last season trinity went 1-9, this year they have already registered 2 wins in pre-district. in last season's game Fairfield went to Trinity on their homecoming and put a 61-0 spanking on them, with a running clock in the second half. i think if fairfield would have executed a bit better last night that the score would have been reminiscent of that, but nonetheless you can see the improvement in that Trinity squad.

Well, I hope that Trinity continues to improve and that Fairfield works out the penalty probems. Sounds like Fairfield should go deep into the playoffs.

that's definitely something both teams hope for. we are fortunate enough to have a squad that works hard and is very dedicated to the task at hand, and when they hit on all cylinders they are hard to stop.
