Danario Alexander was not only a standout on the Marlin High School football team, but excelled on the track as well. The state UIL finals were held May 12 and 13 at the Mike A. Myers Stadium on the University of Texas in Austin. Winners in both girls and boys track and field events were decided from the 'best of the best' and Danario coming home with beautiful medallions for his efforts. With a jump of 48.03.25, Alexander came away with the 3-A division triple jump championship and the gold medal. Also entered in the long jump, Danario had a 24.00.50 jump to secure second place. The winner, Terrance Toliver, of Hempstead, narrowly defeated the Marlin jumper with a leap of 24.00.75
