Lance made the error to start the inning and I think he lost focus. He was coasting before this incident.

Decatur had 1 hit going into bottom 7th.

Lead off batter bounced one back to Pitcher and Lance bounced it to 1st baseman who couldn't handle it. Next batter hit a home run to tie game at 2. Next 3 batters hit singles to score winning run. I couldn't believe it. I think it was the #9 batter who hit the home run.

But the HR that was hit by Snyder's second baseman... wasn't he about their 5th or 6th batter as well? I think it was there second baseman.. #21.
The other thing that comes into play on Decatur's field, which surprised me. That field is small, only 356 to center, 340 in the alleys, and 311 down LF line.
Again, I left in the top of the 5th and didn't see the Decatur HR but the Snyder 2B that hit his HR was to center. Kid from Decatur had a play on it but it cleared the fence by about a foot or less.

Sounds like Lance got a little over anxious. That's a hard loss, but as long as they don't get too discouraged, they'll be alright.

It'll be interesting to find out who will pitch on Saturday. I may actually get to see the games (notice I said games :) ) on Saturday.

Even the newer fields that I have seen go up recently like Graham and Mineral Wells are fairly small compared to what I would like to see. These places lend to more homeruns and less REAL baseball.

Both runs by Snyder were on solo home runs.
#5 hitter Cale Lancaster hit one and #6 hitter Dustin Murdock hit the other. The bottom of the batting order did most of the damage for the Tigers as Snyder had hits by hitters #2,5,6,7,8 and 9 in the batting order. I believe #2 and #8 hitters each had 2 hits. The Tigers left too many on the bases yesterday. Decaturs pitcher was able to get an out when he needed it. He was very good and I believe he had maybe 10 K's. I am looking forward to Saturday to see these two teams go at it again.

Then you must be a big fan of Abilene Cooper's field. 350 down the lines...385 to the alleys...400 to center. It's a "man's field" that's for sure! ;)

I like the lines in the 330 to 340 range but I like big parks. My opinion of REAL baseball is the way it was designed to be played with doubles and triples. It was 490 to dead center at the old Polo Grounds in NYC the original home of the Yankees. I never liked to play in a cracker jack box. I just hate to watch a 3-2 game where there were 5 solo homeruns, which can very easily happen in today's game that is littered with small parks and launching pads like Texas and Atlanta. MLB says the homerun fills the seats and that is the strategy they have gone with but I like to see a good old fashioned game where a walk followed by a single followed by a double to the alley scores 2 and leaves a runner in scoring position. It's just more entertaining in my opinion.

Yes it is and I can't wait for 2:00 to get here!

Go Tigers. I hope Dustyn's pitching today is as good as last week.

Damn...Snyder loses game 2, 5-3. They just could not get the bats going. Credit to the Decatur pitching...they did a good job.

Good Season Tigers.

Just got back from the Snyder/Decatur game. Decatur played near flawless ball. No errors. Made a couple of good defensive plays. Pitcher threw strikes. And every offensive play they put on worked to perfection or better! Decatur scored their 5 runs on just 7 hits, though Snyder did help with a few errors. Decatur just made the most of every opportunity.

Snyder, you guys are a good team and played your hearts out. It seemed like the two teams matched up even. This was one of those series that if they played next week, Snyder might have taken it 2-0. So many good players will be returning. I'm excited to be in the same district with them next year. I'm hoping they will make us a better team just by raising the competition level for us. At least we won't have to play them in the 1st round like we have the last two years.

gwood looking forward to the new district. thanks for going to bat for us. it was a good series with two great teams. decatur got the breaks and we never could get any to fall our way. 3-2 and 5-3 was good series.

Hey Tiger Baseball. Did you guys try the "hide the ball" trick today? Was that what all the commotion was out there on that one play?

Tiger Baseball
05-27-2006, 07:30 PM
yes we did and it worked. the ump at third called him out and the coach talked him out of it and changed the call

GWOOD

OK. Well, I knew that freshman third baseman thought he got him. I just assumed that the ump at 3rd quit watching and so no one called it.
