I believe he has 22 HRs to date and is on pace for 79, do you think he will set the single season mark?

that would be great for him and baseball. but there just doesnt seem to be any magic in the chase for the record anymore. Mcguires run was really exciting for me.

If he's in the running for the record in the August/September time-frame, it'll probably get a little more "magical". ;)

I know last year in the playoffs against the Astros, I cringed every time he came up to bat.

What's amazing is that he's clean.

Was it Lidge that he ruined? That bomb he hit would have been out of Yellowstone!

thing that is scary about him is that he hits bombs off of throw away pitches

I think he breaks it. Teams keep pitching to him because the guys around him are also quality players and you can't afford to put one more guy on base for Scott Rolen or Jim Edmonds.

I think so.

Thinking back... it had to have been. In the words of Crash Davis (Bull Durham), "That thing got outta here in a hurry".

i'd rather see albert with the record than barry......then all the press could get off his back a little bit and climb onto Pujols's.

i garuntee as soon as Pujols gets close, some kind of steroid contreversy comes up with him too.

I think that the single season HR race would be more "magical" if Pujols had some competition. but the next closest guy is Thome and he only has 17 or 18. but it is great to no that this time the competitors are clean. i dont think that he will even make it to 70.
