The Temple paper listed all of the scholarships awarded in Rockdale and one looked funny to me.

$500 scholarship awarded by The Rockdale Racehorse Association to Miss Luckey.

Do all schools have good local scholarship programs? Rockdale awarded around $280,000 in scholarships and Cameron was just over $300,000 in local money with another $300,000 from individual schools (Cameron's top grad got $60,000 from Harvard).

Aransas Pass has MANY local scholarships. We had our Senior Awards banquet last Thursday and it lasted two hours. Non-stop presentations by local non-profit organizations. Not sure of the total dollar amount, but it was a tremendous show of support by the community.
