In a thrilling National Championship match the UCLA women won by beating USC in a thriller 9 to 8! USC was behind 8 - 7 when they scored a goal with 30 seconds left which looked like it might send it to overtime but UCLA got off a shot and scored a goal with 1 second in the game to win the National Championship! Even with one second left USC got off a long shot which would have sent it to overtime but the ball just barely hit the crossbar and went over the net. A thrilling match indeed!

An interesting note is that in the past several years the National Champions in this sport has usually been UCLA, USC or Stanford. All of these are Pacific 10 schools and are located in California.

It would seem that the NCAA would investigate the PAC 10 for recruiting violations. Sure makes you wonder.

maybe because almost all of the schools that play water polo at the NCAA level are on the west coast?
