Jasper product, Josey Parker, has signed with Texas A&M University to finish out his college baseball career as an Aggie.

An All Conference player last season with Panola College in Carthage, Parker followed that with a season that will go in the books as one of the greatest all time in the history of a very storied Panola Pony Baseball program. Parker was selected last fall to the Texas-New Mexico Junior College All Star Team as reward for his efforts.

Parker’s statistics for the 2006 season were second to none in most offensive categories. He sported a .439 batting average with 16 homeruns and 73 RBI. He also had an .832 slugging percentage to lead the team in that category as well.

Not only was he a threat at the plate, he also put up superior numbers from the mound. Although his record was 2-3 on the year, he had a 2.72 ERA in 36 1/3 innings pitched, the lowest ERA of any pitcher on the staff who pitched at least one inning.

Josey, who graduated from Jasper High School in 2004 is the son of Roy and Laura Parker.
