Interesting??? From the L. A Times

1. 40% of all workers in L.A. County (L. A. County has 10 million
people)
are working for cash and not paying taxes. This was because they are
predominantly illegal immigrants, working without a green card.

2. 95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

3. 75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal
aliens.

4. Over 2/3's of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien
Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

5. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are
Mexican
nationals here illegally.

6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in L os Angeles County are living in
garages.

7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most
likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

9. 21 radio stations in L. A. are Spanish speaking.

10. In L. A. County 5.1 million people speak English. 3.9 million
speak
Spanish (10.2 million people in L. A. County).

(All 10 from the Los Angeles Times)

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops but 29% are on
welfare.

Over 70% of the United States annual population growth (and over 90%
of
California, Florida, and New York) results from immigration.

The cost of immigration to the American taxpayer in 1997 was a NET
(after
subtracting taxes immigrants pay) $70 BILLION a year, [Professor Donald
Huddle, Rice University].

The lifetime fiscal impact (taxes paid minus services used) for the
average adult Mexican immigrant is a NEGATIVE

29% of inmates in federal prisons are illegal aliens.

If they can come to this country to raise Hell and march by the
thousands, why can't they take charge over the corruption in their own
country? We are fools for letting this continue.

Just so everyone knows those facts are not 100% true. I have seen this posted on another website. I would have posted it here a few days ago but I and other posters on that website did some checking and it seems the numbers are a little exaggerated so its not completely accurate. It came from a blog. I'm not trying to discredit you olddog73 because those stats and numbers are still shocking IMO.
Here is a link Link (http://anti-strib.blogspot.com/2006/05/mostly-correct-data-dismissed-by-pro.html)

Thanks for the link turbostud, heres the stuff.

Mostly correct data dismissed by Pro-illegal faction

Yesterday I posted a list problems attributed to illegal aliens in California and LA County. Not every Fact was 100% correct, nor were they all wrong. As usual there is some room for interpretation, but I stand by the general idea of the post.

Not every illegal alien is here to work and they do put a HUGE strain on our welfare, healthcare and justice systems

I’ll try to cover each fact and the various sources that confirm or deny this fact.

40% of all workers in L.A. County (L.A. County has 10 million people) are working for cash and not paying taxes. This was because they are predominantly illegal immigrants, working without a green card.

This is not correct. The work force of LA County is 4.5 Million people and there are an estimated 972,500 people working for cash. That’s over 21% of the work force, not 40%

95% of warrants for murder in Los Angeles are for illegal aliens.

Partially correct: May 15, 2005 — "According to Heather MacDonald of the Manhattan Institute, 95% of the hundreds of outstanding homicide warrants (and 60% of outstanding felony warrants) in L.A. are for illegal immigrants."

In Los Angeles, 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for homicide in the first half of 2004 (which totaled 1,200 to 1,500) targeted illegal aliens. Up to two-thirds of all fugitive felony warrants (17,000) were for illegal aliens.

An outstanding warrant is quite a different beast than a regular warrant, and there is no information on the total warrant situation. I think this could have been more clearly stated but it is correct.

75% of people on the most wanted list in Los Angeles are illegal aliens.

The Los Angeles Police Department's "Most Wanted" list is viewable on-line, but since each entry generally includes only the ethnicity of a suspect (not his or her immigration status or nationality), and many of the entries refer to persons of unknown identity, it's difficult to verify the claim that 75% of the people listed therein are illegal aliens. (They look to be heavily weighted to the Hispanic side)

4. Over 2/3's of all births in Los Angeles County are to illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal whose births were paid for by taxpayers.

2/3’s of all births in LA county were to Hispanic women. Legal and illegal. Also "40% of the births in California are to foreign-born women.") The California Vital Records Department of the Department of Health Services classified as "Hispanic" the race/ethnicity of 62.7% of all births occurring in Los Angeles county in 2001. The statistic quoted above therefore erroneously characterizes all parents of Hispanic heritage in Los Angeles County in 2001 as being "illegal alien Mexicans on Medi-Cal."

"As many as 70,000 illegal immigrants a year use state-funded prenatal services." 158,782 babies were born in L.A. County in 2001. That means ONLY 44% of the births in LA County were paid for by the tax payer! I feel so much better now.

5. Nearly 25% of all inmates in California detention centers are Mexican nationals here illegally.

The fact should state prison and not detention center. Otherwise it is correct.

The 25% figure could be approximately correct for state and federal prisons in California, or correct for county, at least as of 2004.

The L.A. County Sheriff reported in 2000 that 23% of inmates in county jails were deportable, according to the New York Times.

6. Over 300,000 illegal aliens in Los Angeles County are living in garages.

Incorrect. About 200,000 people are living in garages and they are not all illegal.
Jan. 31, 1994 — "As many as 100,000 families in Los Angeles County are believed to be living in bootlegged apartments or illegally converted garages." May 24, 1987 — "A systematic survey by The Times indicates that about 42,000 garages are sheltering about 200,000 people in Los Angeles County." (Similar citations: Apr. 3, 1989)

7. The FBI reports half of all gang members in Los Angeles are most likely illegal aliens from south of the border.

Impossible to prove or disprove, LA doesn’t keep track of gang member’s immigration status.

May 15, 2005, in an op-ed by attorney Carol Platt Liebau — "Of the membership of the notorious 18th Street gang, estimated at 20,000, fully 60% are illegal aliens, according to a 1995 report by the state Department of Justice." (Similar citations: Jan. 19, 2004, March 25, 2000, June 11, 1997, Dec. 17, 1996, Nov. 21, 1996, Nov. 17, 1996)

Heather MacDonald of Manhattan Institute stated that "No one knows for certain the percentage of illegals in gangs, thanks in large part to sanctuary laws themselves." She does offer some statistics in the City Journal:

We can safely say that there are a very large number of illegals in gangs.

8. Nearly 60% of all occupants of HUD properties are illegal.

Mostly likely incorrect, HUD provides no data for LA County. They do admit that at least 5% of all HUD housing in California is occupied by illegal aliens.

9. 21 radio stations in L.A. are Spanish speaking.
False, Estimates vary by source: one website lists 15 Spanish stations out of 78, another lists 18 out of 83.

10. In L.A.County 5.1 million people speak English. 3.9 million speak Spanish (10.2 million people in L.A.County).

Small discrepancy: The Census reports that as of the year 2004, 3.9 million people in L.A. County speak only English at home; 3.7 million speak primarily Spanish at home.

Less than 2% of illegal aliens are picking our crops but 29% are on welfare.

Unvarified: Although illegal aliens are not generally eligible to collect public welfare benefits, an illegal alien may receive benefits under the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) and Food Stamps programs on behalf of his or her U.S. citizen child. (Any child born in the United States is considered a U.S. citizen, regardless of the parents' immigration status.) A 1997 General Accounting Office (GAO) report determined that it 1995 households headed by illegal aliens received a total of $700 million in AFDC benefits and $430 million in Food Stamps.

It’s safe to say we spent close to $2 billion in 2005 on AFDC and Food stamps for illegal aliens.

Over 70% of the United States annual population growth (and over 90% of California, Florida, and New York) results from immigration.

TRUE!
As the Sacramento Bee recently reported, the "over 90%" figure for population growth in California is essentially accurate if the term "immigration" is defined to encompass both foreign immigrants and births to immigrant mothers:

When Department of Finance numbers are merged with Census Bureau numbers and birth and death data collected by the state Department of Health Services are added to the mix, showing that half of all births are to immigrant mothers, the inescapable conclusion is that foreign immigration and births to immigrant mothers together comprise all of the state's net population growth. Or, to put it another way, without foreign immigration, California would have virtually zero population growth.

The cost of illegal immigration to the American taxpayer in 1997 was a NET (after subtracting taxes immigrants pay) $70 BILLION a year, [Professor Donald Huddle, Rice University].

Untrue, It is true that Rice University economist Donald Huddle has conducted studies and concluded that immigrants (both legal and illegal) in the U.S. receive billions of dollars more in social services from local, state and federal governments than they contribute in revenue.

There are huge arguemts over which economic model to use and which taxes and programs to count. The Study noted did find that Immigrants cost the US economy $42.5 Billion in 1993. Immigration has increased and government programs have expanded in the last 13 years. $70 billion is an accurate estimate of their costs in 2006.

I apologize for the factual errors in the post, the numbers were not 100% correct.

I do not apologize for pointing out that immigration, legal and illegal is costing us money, resources and lives. The people in prison, in gangs and on the most wanted list have killed people, which have negatively impacted thousand of lives. We have a need to control who enters our country and who gets to stay.
