View Full Version : How Did You Come Up With Your DL Screen Name??

ILS1
05-14-2006, 11:03 AM
As for me,it was no brilliant brain storming idea or clever play on words. When I first started on the original "Pig" a couple of years ago. I couldn't think of anything clever or funny,my mind just went blank. It was in the summer and no sports were being played. So I thought what do I love most,SPORTS?? All sports to be specific. So I thought and low and behold..........wait for it.........here it comes.........I LUV SPORTS 1. So to shorten it up all the guys on "The Pig" just started addressing me by ILS1. Well, there it is. See nothing spectacular. How did you come up with yours? BTW,I can figure out most of them (like your town name or mascot in your screen name) but some of them still have me scratching my head???

Mine is pretty easy..... when I was in high school, we won 44 games in a row....... :) The team (Class of 76) ) never lost a game from 7th grade to 12th grade until the state game our senior year.... Lost to Ennis :(

I originally signed up as "LH Senior Mom", because my oldest was a senior at the time. As soon as I registered, I realized  it was a brain-fart, since I had other sons and reregistered almost immediately.

GreenMonster

My D-low name makes a little bit of sense too. It came about during the Red Sox/ Yankees series in 2004. I'm a huge baseball nut and my hometown Hawks are green in color and I figured it kinda fit together nicely, so the "GreenMonster" was born on that fateful October afternoon.

i used to be called explayer2001, i had my name switched because when i originally signed up i didn't think that i would be here and visiting this site that often so i made a name that made me sound more credible...although i never actually played a lick of high school football.

now i had my name switched to aggie john because my first name is john and i was a student at A&M then....so now it's stuck....i've asked ADMIN to change it to just "john" but he won't do it....pansy:rolleyes:

Slpybear is just a shortened version of my nickname... sleepy bear.

The nickname has a good story behind it. I used to be involved reaaalllly heavy into Civil War Reenacting. Back in 1995 I was up at a reenactment at Franklin Tennessee. The group of Texas Reenactors I was with was spending the weekend going "Hard Core" i.e. spend the weekend like the soldiers back then would have. Everything you had for the three days you carried on your back. Saturday night we stayed in some trenches and it got down to 19°F that morning. Just before we all crashed I was standing around chatting by a big campfire. I was wearing a big, long coat and wearing a nightcap to keep my head warm. One of my friends pointed at me and said, "Man, you look just like that big sleepy bear on the Travelodge Sign just off 35 in Temple!"

The name stuck like glue. I've been Sleepy Bear ever since to my friends. Of course, on my ISP I only get 8 characters... so... slpybear.

I registered when my son was a freshman and the only one on the varsity team and they called him either Fish or Hoss. Now he's about to be a Junior and thought about reregistering but my daughter is going to be a freshman. So for now I'm still fish's mom just my son's swimming in deeper water and my daughter is just in shallow water..............And my baby is only going to be in second grade so we'll be in water for a lot more years HAHAHA;)
