For all you clones that are Jim Rome Fans, you know how HUGE today is. I took off work just so that i could listen.

Smack-Off 2006 is an event on The Jim Rome Show that will take place on May 5, 2006. It is the twelfth installment of the show's annual event, the Smack-Off. The show was invented by Jim Rome and show producer Travis Rodgers (T-Rodge), in order to showcase the best callers of the year. The best caller of the day in the Smack-Off is named "King of Smack."

These are my current picks for how i think it goes....i THINK that if sean calls in he wins huge....Smackoff 2005 call where he won yesterday was so amazing, but there's a hot youngster called Oren in Denver whos been ripping it up this year, who might make a legit run.

aggiejohn's Picks
1 Sean the Cablinasian
2 Iafrate
3 Oren in Denver
4 Greg in Vegas
5 Bill in Knoxville
6 John in C-Town
7 Jim in Fall River
8 Terrence in Sierra Madre
9 Steve Carbone
10 Jeff in Richmond

Anyway, listen to it today from 11 AM to 2 PM.

Jeff in Richmond went WWE on Oren in Denver last week. I'm all about Romey, but can't stand the Dan Patrick show.

interesting thread. ive never listened to the smackdown, but i know the calls can get pretty intense. i dont know how some of these guys do it. on the other hand, i get extremely uncomfortable hearing the callers who try and end up embarrasing themselves

if there's anyway you can get away from work, school or whatever and listen to smackoff, it's a great way to spend a few hours.
Hilarious!

Greg in Vegas just won it. I've only been around for the last two Smackoffs, but that was the best one I've ever heard.

Rack him.

Greg got ripped off.

Who combines Newtonian physics, pop culture references, and Kirby Puckett's glass eye into one, big, rubber band ball of hilariousness? Greg in Vegas, that's who.

Dude, you took a day off of work to listen to the smack-off?!? I love the smack-off just as much as the next guy, but come on, taking off a day of work to listen to a three hour radio program. Ever heard of taking a long lunch or maybe, I don't know taking a half day off so you can be somewhat productive. It will not stop the world from spinning if you miss the smack-off, just your level of usefulness to society. I think we found the Texas version of Silk-bra. Note to Aggie John, must place more emphasis on work and productivity than a radio show. If you did a little more work, you could earn a promotion to a job where you could listen to the radio show from your computer while working. See, killing two birds with one stone. Some people can work and listen to the radio at the same time. Thanks for being a beneficial member of society.

Don't you ever do enough during the week to take an occassional Friday off? I always do... just depends on how hard you work at the beginning of the week.

Not really. I don't like to put my co-workers in a bind. I like to plan my days off. I am somewhat considerate. A radio show is not worth me wasting eight hours of vacation time.

I also like the Rome "Year in Review" shows right before Christmas every year. It used to be just one day, then two. Now it's an entire week. Reminds me of how much funny stuff gets talked about on the show.:D

So you mean to say that you and AJ have the same occupations? Would a self-employed entrepreneuer have the same obligations as a garbage collector? How do you know what AJ does or how it affects his coworkers?

My occasional "Friday" absence (my "Fridays" actually came on Sundays) never affected my coworkers. But then again, I was on salary so as long as I put together enough stories during the early part of the week (Wed-Sat) our main man was fine without me at the station every single Sunday.
