There was a 10.28 and a 10.46 out of Region II.

Random Draw is how it's done ---This is the fairest way to do it , it keeps the weather or anything else out of the picture that may have affected the times at the Regional meet .

well, in that case, West Columbia's Boys are very unlucky..........lane 1 or 8 in each of their 3 races.

Say what you will but the weather does have a part in why the have a random draw. Say for instance region 2 is facing a 30-40mph wind and region 4 meet is sloppy wet would it be fair to give lanes according to the times ran at regionals when 2 of the regions had 0 wind and 0 rain and the other 2 were fighting the elements ? The UIL has this part of the meet under control unlike their decisions on where to have the Regional meets .

Good luck to all participant's going to Austin Track and Golf :D

Good luck to all participant's going to Austin Track and Golf :D Why are you Cuero homers so caught up on the weather, We did not hear a thing about weather last year from you guys, You have a better chance at winning the title than most of the schools who will be at State and all you are doing is complaining about weather and lane assignments. I only wished we had the team you guys have, I certainly wouldn't be worried about weather ,lanes or anthing else. But Good luck to you and all the other schools!

Kind of like when DaBryan Blanton from Forney qualified for the state meet after running something like a 10.9 in the 100 meter dash because he fell flat of his face out of the blocks and then got up and chased everyone down to win the REgion II 100 meter title. Though it was one of the slowest times to qualify he had the chance to get s good lane with the random draw

Gobbla2001

I don't think anyone from Cuero was really complaining about the weather, they just pointed out the obvious... Hargrove runs around a 10.4 consistantly but won the 100 at regionals with a 10.9...

If Olguin wouldn't have pulled a muscle or whatever it was he would have qualified in the 100 as well...

Good luck everybody...

Good luck everybody... I know the kid is fast, and he has a great chance to win at State, but at this stage of the season ,it doesn't matter what you ran early in the season or what the weather conditions were. It's all about what you do in that 1 race on the 12th or 13th. Early in the season Skye ran the 200m twice, we wanted to see what kind of time he would post. Unfortunately, both times he had to run into a strong headwind coming off of the curve, so his times were not what we were expecting, 22.25 and 22.28, but that's the way track is. So for this year those are his times with or without a head wind.

Okay  ... But like I said, no one from Cuero was whining... someone mentioned the times were low and some Cuero folk gave a reason for the Region 4 times being so low when the guys are usually .5 or so faster than that...

What does it matter if we talk about the weather? Or if we give reasons for a time being down...

And yes, you should say "pointing out the facts"... dang you're jumpy...

And I don't think Olguin ran the 100 last year... I think it was James and Hargrove... but maybe another Cuero poster can clear it up...

I honestly doubt someone fell flat on their face then got up and ran a 10.9! When he fell FLAT ON HIS FACE he had to lose a second in a half or so which would make him a 9.7 or so if he didnt fall...He may have slipped but I seriously doubt he FELL FLAT ON HIS FACE!

kaorder1999
05-07-2006, 11:30 PM
he fell flat on his face. when his blocks slipped his entire body lay flat on the track, pushed himself up to his feet, took off, and won the race at the Region 2 meet. Witnessed it. I see your point and that would be the case if it happened in the middle of the race but this happened at the start of the race. Somebody should check the time but if I'm not mistaken that is what he ran. That is the same year he ran 20.37 in the 200 meters and 10.3 numerous times in the 100 meters FAT. That was a race where Blanton had hoped to break his fathers Regional record but they elected to not re-run the race since he was already a state qualifier.

shadow... you crack me up... this is the only thread I've replied to in regards to track since regionals... only other thing I did was post pictures of the track and golf regional champions from the Cuero Record website... but I've been defending his 10.9 ever since regionals?

And I've also been talking about the weather for the last couple of months? I think I MAY have mentioned the weather once, and that was not in a "homer" way... it was mentioned that discus times were down (all around, not just Cuero) and I said "The meet was in Bay City, maybe the wind had something to do with it..." That's not being a homer, that's being realistic...

As for Chuck Norris, I saw him on a "Don't Mess With Texas" commercial yesterday/last night/whenever... I am now going to stop messing with Texas!!!
