Do yall want to do a meet and greet this summer down here somewhere? Thinking Choke Canyon, Lake Corpus Christi area.
Post your thoughts.

Camped at Lake CC quite a few times back in my younger days... fun stuff...

We could do it out at the island, but that gets awful sandy and all. Choke is supposed to have some good stripers, but you gotta have a boat. At least Lake Corpus has a fishing pier.

Come to think of it, Port A has fresh water showers and such, might not be too bad. Great pier too.

Would the floating pier at Lake CC be effected by low water at all?

You can catch some decent white-bass/hybrid (I believe) and crappie off of that pier... used to love fishing off of that pier...

i was in rockport yesterday for dinner at Charlotte Plummers (mmmmm) and thought Goose Island State Park would be a great place for a mng. but anywhere close to home would be cool.

I think so. Arturo's is one of the best places to eat in the RGV.

Goose Island is a good park, but I've never had much luck fishing there. At Port A, you have Horace Caldwell Pier and the jettys, not to mention surf fishing. I've caught some huge reds in the surf. One of my neighbors likes the jettys.

One of my other neighbors has a fishing cabin down on the Laguna Madre a little south of Baffin Bay, but it's about an hour boat ride from Bird Island. Cabin only sleeps about six though. It's on land, so tents could be pitched also.

Maybe depends on whether yall want to fish freshwater or saltwater. If you do saltwater, you gotta have an extra stamp on your license last time I checked.

Goose Island does boast the largest oak tree in Texas. I've camped there several times too. I have fished on the pier at Holiday Beach too, and that's fairly decent. I don't think my family has any property there anymore though. My mom had a couple of lots but I think she gave them to a cousin of mine.

You've just never caught any big fish. You haven't lived until you've had redfish filets cooked over mesquite.;)

LOL!! I don't mind eating it, I just don't wanna have to fish for it.

Believe me, I have done plenty fishing in my day, even went deep sea fishing one time and watched the ex catch a shark.

I thought it was boring then and will always think it's boring....and they stink too!!

I'll bring the mesquite, if you'll cook the fish.

I don't like to fish, but I like the idea of us getting together somewhere nearby. When it comes to camping style situations...I am a girly-girl. I need electricity and running water and a bed. :D :D

I say we go kayaking/fishing in the bays between Port A and Aransas Pass. If you have never done it, it is ALOT of fun, but does cost to rent the boats for the day. Us "girly" girls are close enough to home for whenever we have had enough of the great outdoors.

Check it out (http://www.aransaspass.org/boating_and_kayaking.htm)

Everyone just come spend the night in my shack of an apartment. We can play twister and rent movies.......maybe even get wild and play spin the bottle. Don't forget your sleeping bag. :)

See what happens when I don't keep a close eye on you guys!:D

No "swinging" at my house....just got rid of the swingset...we do have a trampoline though.:nerd:

I am telling you...the kayaking is fun. For those who like to fish....you are able to "sneak" up on them...for the rest of us that like to get all sandy, collect shells blah, blah, blah...you can get "in touch" with nature.

My friends that own Slow Ride Kayaks do sunrise and full moon rides...not that you would catch me out there at either of those hours.

Lake CC is looking pretty bad from what I've heard. I'd recommend Port A for some salt water fishing, or even ConCan.

plus there's plenty of time going out, and coming back in, to do all the meeting and greeting we want.

whats the alcohol situation on the Texas Treasure? expensive? and if the drinks are free for gamblers, it aint worth it. ill drop a couple hundred bucks while i wait for my "complimentary" drink

Lake CC is low. I was there last week. I love Concan but I bet the Frio is pretty low for tubing right now. Hopefully it'll rain quite a bit the next few months.

blyek...I don't like the Texas Treasure...my husband loves to go, but the noise of those silly slot machines gets on my nerves. I might consider going if it is a day cruise. I can then lose my $20.00 in the slots, go out on the deck and look at miles and miles (9 to be exact) of water.:D

I say we all just go to South Padre Island and continue to watch Survivor: South Padre Island live as it happens.

While we're at it, go and do some great fishing on the jetty, wade fishing in the bay, or charter a boat and do some deep sea fishing.

Even better.......can do it all during TIFT and have our own lil' fishing competition.
