Hollywood does not get it right when they try to get the New Orlean's accent. Contrary to popular belief, the only folks who pronounce the city N'Awlins are movie stars and tourist. Also, if you listen to any local long enough you would swear they were from Brooklyn, not New Or Leens.

I'll confirm that, PPHSFan----after growing up in Metairie, La. Native New Orleanians pronounce it more nearly "New AW-lins". Many also say "turlett" insteat of "toilet", and "earl" instead of "oil". A proper greeting is also---"Where ya at?". To wish someone bad luck is to "Put the "mout" " on them.

The Georgia or South Carolina accent used by actors portraying New Orleanians is laughable.
