there is a movement today, in protest of whatever, to stop buying goods today. they are crminals and crminal apologists, attempting to shut down cities and the economy.i ask everyone on the downlow to go out and buy something. go out to eat. go buy Christmas presents early. just go buy stuff. at noon, the first Taqueria i see that is open, will have my business. ;)

I picked up two bean, cheese, and bacon tacos and a Big Red this morning in protest of the protest. Viva La Revolucion!

I went and got a bacon, potato and egg breakfast taco this morning at my favorite bakery here in town (even though I wasn't hungry).

I was TRULY relieved they were open because I promised myself that I would not go there again if they had been closed. I protested the protest also!

Today is probably the only day that I will actually notice if a customer is Hispanic or not.

I was in a store this morning that I frequent quite often. There was a hispanic girl in there, I don't know her, but we see each other in there all the time.

I saw her this morning and asked, "what are you doing here? I didn't figure I would see you today".

She replied, "this is the stupidest thing I have ever heard and I am ashamed of my "people" today"!

i am not shopping today.

2 reasons- #1 more so than #2.

#1- i am broke and dont get paid for 2 weeks
#2- My mom said not to.

her and my dad are going to church today and then going to march. i told em i thought it was neat, but i cant lose my perfect attendance bonus.

And what is really funny is that for a boycott to work you have to continue doing it...

Doing it for one day only is like an annoying mesquito buzzing around your head for 5 seconds without biting you... it then flys off and you laugh to yourself "HAHA, too bad for them that they only live for 14 days!!!"

On a more serious note, though, this has become more of an annoyance with the majority of Americans than anything else...

I will suggest if they truely believe in this that they organize events on weekends etc... maybe a certain organization can be formed that can be incharge of spreading the word in a more logical form than a protest... protests are like vacations for some people, they don't go to work, they do not attend classes and they just get out and hold a sign and hope to find an attractive member of the opposite sex (or sometimes of the same sex) that shares the same beliefs and they can maybe end up getting some after the protest...

Have like an event one weekend out of each month or something that helps raise awareness for what you believe should be done with the situation... Have foreign bands play... have a reggae band, a polka band, a middle-eastern band and some tejano or what have you... just get out there and raise your awareness in a more logical way because this really doesn't work, this many people call it sick all the time anyway...

Dammit, I hate thinking of stuff afterwards...

Anyway, if the hopes of these folks who will not "buy" stuff today were to put a dent in the Economy then it won't work... all it means is that they stocked up on stuff yesterday so they couldn't spend money today and will buy the hell out of stuff tomorrow as well...

But isn't Rosie's usually closed like 4 days out of the week... It seems like every time you decide to go there it's closed.

I went to Walmart, Dollar General and Kent Kwik at lunch....I think someone forgot to tell the Midland Hispanic community about the boycott!!

In the newspaper yesterday, we had a local Hispanic businessman, he owns several Jumburritos here in town, say that if anyone of his 136 workers called in today because of the boycott, it will be just like "skipping a day of work"....they will be docked and any that have already received one warning will be fired.

He says if they wanna make a difference, they need to VOTE not boycott or protest!

I picked up Mexican food for breakfast to prostest the prostest.
For lunch I had McDonalds to support a major American corporation.
Anyone have some ideas for a mid-afternoon snack?

Man, I have never had Rosie's... take that comment back so I can atleast try them...

Miga's kick butt at the place that was closed today... I either get a bacon egg bean and cheese or a migas egg bean and cheese...

They were closed Easter Sunday MONDAY, so I need to check and see if they are closed mondays now before I do any boycottin' stuff... if so I'm gunna let them know how it is...

Atleast 3 times a week we get about 7 tacos from them...

Y'all suck though... I thought there would be more controversy on this thread and the other I replied to... Now I have nothing else to do but go and bug the nice young beautiful hot sexy hispanic lady at the local gas-station when I get a beer...

God Bless Texas!!!

What are these people thinking waving Mexican flags during their protest. They should have made mass illegal immigrant arrests! Have the police escort the march into a large stadium and go at it! I know this may sound a bit harsh, but enuff already. If you want to stay, get the right paperwork done, learn English, and start paying taxes!!

Hey 44IAR, I read in the Advocate months ago that Bravo's had a whole mess of write ups from the Health Dept. Be Careful! Sounds like Cuero could use a good Mexican restaurant. Hmmm.. Maybe I'll open one up and hire a handfull of illegal immigrants to run it. The profits would be good since I won't have to pay them any bennies...Hmmm:thinking:
