7 for 8 in saves and still leading the league.....but yes he needs to get it together.....

he doesn't seem as aggressive as in years past. He used to go right after hitters. He seems to be working himself more into hitter's counts.

If Lidge sucks what does that make Gallo?

Gallo gets lit up by t-ballers...

Nah...

Lidge is in a funk man, a huge funk... ever since Pujols went Ape-chit all over that ball he threw to him during the NLCS last year Lidge has gone down...

Hope he can turn it around...

Give him a break, he blew 1 save! It's gonna happen every once in a while. By the way he's on pace for 60 saves. Hey, it could happen.

I was probably a little harsh...I wrote that post before Nomar's bomb (and my remote control) had even landed. I just don't want to see this guy wind up in "Mark Wohlers-ville." ;)

Looks like Lidge is in post-season form. Did you see how perfectly executed his fetal position was, he must have been working on it. It was like I had deja-vu tonight, except in place of the hulking Albert Pujols, insert scrawny, injury plagued Nomar.

But seriously, I think he has a severe mental block since the Pujols thing last year. I noticed tonight he doesn't command the strike zone like he did last year when he truly was lights-out. He tries to outthink his opponents now instead of being ten kinds of filthy like he was last year.

I'll trade Cordero for Lidge...straight up! You can even have one a pitching prospect if you want! ;)

and btw...I'm now a 40/40 guy with this post! Maybe they Astros should sign me! ;)

I would do that trade too.
Cordero is off to a rough start, besides Mariano Rivera or Billy Wagner.... who else has been a consistent closer the last 5 years?
Maybe Trevor Hoffman... but he has had an injury bug.

He just looks out of it, not commanding his pitches and not throwing strikes, walking leadoff hitters.

3&2count
04-25-2006, 12:26 PM
10.2 innings
11 hits
8 runs
8 ER
3 HOMERUNS
7 WALKS
15 K's

That is not good numbers. I know he is 7 of 8, but those are not good numbers. 3 HR's in 10 innings. 8 runs.......7 Walks.

He does need to get his command back.

lidge relies on his slider waaaayyyyyy too much. when you have a high 90's fastball you need to throw it. when you are behind in the count and you throw a slider, your gunna be throwing it fo a strike which in turn gives the batter a better chance of making contct and it also gives him a better chance of getting a base hit. lidge needs to start getting ahead in the count with the heater by hitting his spots then throwning his hard sharp slider down and away to the batter, not thowing 85% of the time and then hagging half of them

His problem last night was that he thought he had Nomar with his fastball and threw it three times straight in the exact same spot and Nomar sat on it and DRILLED it.

Bull19...incase you didnt get to see the game lastnight, the one time Lidge did rely on his fastball, it was drilled. Hes not hanging his slider like you say he is, he is just missing his spots.

Like I said, he will come around. Its funny how you can talk all this mess about him from your basement at you parents house, but he is the one out making millions of dollars, save or not.
