What is the attendance record for an independent 3A game?

I have no idea officially but I went to some Southlake Carrol vs. Vernon games that you couldnt find a place to stand. The one in WF had that stadium packed. They even opened up the berm areas for standing. It was like being at an aggie game where no one sat down at all.

I don't know what the fair weather record is. But in October of 2002 about 5000 were on hand in the pouring down rain to watch Pilot Point play Celina when the streak was still on the line. And with the thunderstorm delay, the game didn't even start till about 10PM.

I need to go back and look to see the official attendance, but LH vs Burnet '02 had around 7,000 if I remember right. If you've not ever seen the Liberty Hill stadium, I believe the capacity is 2,500.

Close but The Southlake - Vernon game that was played in Wichita Falls was in 1990 and Vernon beat SLC and won the State Championship that year.

The 1991 game must have been when Vernon played SLC at Pennington Field and was beat by SLC at the end of the game. (that game is always mentioned as one of the all time greatest high school football games ever played). I went on to watch the SLC / Burnet game. It was played in Waco and tell me if I'm right but didn't Burnet win on penetrations????

Remember back in the 3a days Burnet was averaging about 15,000 at home games.

Forney vs. Everman at pennington field in 2001, standing room only about 5 people deep in the endzone.

Back in the day Rockdale/Cameron could fill the seats in the annual Battle of the Bell.
