View Full Version : 3ADL Summer Meet and Greet

As the School Year ends, the summer season begins, and we are ohhh so close to the season we all know and love.

Divisions I-IV Are represented on here, panhandle to coast.

So I propose we find a common meeting ground, make reservations and bring in the summer right.

Tailgate before tailgating.

My Proposed placing:

Austin, Texas ;)

lets just make it somewhere central....i think austin is the best bet for everyone!!! i'll definitely go if we have one!!!

NHSRattler60
04-21-2006, 09:05 PM
where is inks lake?

I think it needs to be something very central. not too far north, not too far south that's why I suggest Austin, or how about Gatesville?

Lake Austin might not even be there when the summer comes, it is probably already 10 ft low, could be 20 by summer. Inks lake is never more than a few inches low.

And inks lake is about 3 minutes outside of Burnet

Inks Lake was great!! The Pavilion on the water was a great place for us all to meet.

Hubby and I stayed in a tent (I am NOT a girly-girl) and I think we pay $30 for the campsite for 2 days with electricity.

You can put several tents up at one site...Sinton66 stayed on the same site with us.

Emerson1
04-21-2006, 09:10 PM
Because that's where the first one was, and you have to keep tradition. Plus what place is there to go in Austin? Maybe we can rent out Darrel Royal Stadium for a weekend.:D

NHSRattler60
04-21-2006, 09:10 PM
yeah, lakes have mosquitos and water....you can't play football on the water. Austin has like 200+ parks.....why is that a bad choice?

There are ponds if you wanna feed the ducks. :)

Mesquitos arn't that bad, and since it's gonna be a big drought in the middle of summer there won't be any standing water.

I didn't get a single mosquito bite when we were there and it's not like we are camping in the middle of the lake...there IS large expanses of grass there ( and cute girls running around in cute bikinis)

For me to drive from West Texas to Austin is a fortune in gas...I will have to sleep in my truck.

I am debating on going to the State Track meet now, because of the price of gas. I told my husband we may have to drive down early Friday morning and come back after it's over Saturday. We had planned on staying 3 nights, but I might have to use my hotel funds for gas.

Technically, Inks Lake would be more central than Austin, since it's closer to the "heart of Texas" (Brady) than Austin is. Gatesville?????

It takes 15-20min to get their from Burnet.
I'd suggest making a last minute stop at the HEB in Burnet it will save you money. If you're coming from the west stop in Llano.
I have a friend that sells BBQ and Breakfast Tacos at the park. So that's available. I'll try to roll my pit in also.

Inks is too far north. That's almost 300 miles from here. We did North last time. We really should alternate areas if we're gonna do this every year. It's not fair to have the same people drive great distances every time.

sorry to put a damper on your idea but the people in the south arent goin to be the only ones that have to drive a great distance... RM will have to drive 5+ hrs no matter where we have.. central texas (or there abouts) is the best for everybody IMO

I still say central texas is the best place to do it, most everybody will have a little bit of a drive, if we do it down south 90% of people will have a drive, same as if we do it in west texas, east texas or north texas.
