TISD APPROVES ADDING "EARL CAMPBELL FIELD" AT TRINITY MOTHER FRANCES ROSE STADIUM
TISD has unanimously approved the addition of "Earl Campbell Field" to Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium.
Campbell, a member of John Tyler's 1973 State Championship Team, is also a member of both the Pro and College Football Hall of Fame. He won the Heisman Trophy at The University of Texas in 1977, and is a three-time NFL Rushing Champion and NFL Most Valuable Player...he's also been honored as a "True Texas Hero".
When I spoke with him tonight after board approval, Campbell told me, "Never in all my life did I ever think something like this would happen to me...I'm grateful to TISD and to Trinity Mother Frances Hospital for allowing me this honor".
Campbell will be in Tyler for the official press conference on Monday at 2:00pm, but will also appear on David Smoak's Sports Talk at 5:30pm on Friday afternoon.
