WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO GET IN THE AP TOP TEN POLL

Giddings knocked off a great Cameron team that was ranked number 4 in state and you're telling me that we can't get a top ten ranking. I could understand if that was the only good team we beat but it is not we knocked off Yoakum and Taylor also. So guys and the 2 girls in my BCIS class how do you think the rankings should look for the top ten?

Giddings was not ranked int the top 25 of texas football to start the year and that hurt them. They were not ranked b/c of the thumping from a very good China Spring team last year in the 1st round of the play-offs.

But they should have been in the top 15 if people only knew how good of a TEAM they are.

I guess talk is cheap, but so are the seats in a basketball gym! Hmmmmmmmmm.
We'll just have to see how far they go! Frankly, it may take a while.

You cannot base anything off of the AP poll. This is a large state. the only thing that people in west Texas know about people in East Texas is their records. (vise-versa)
That is why we have playoffs. I am sure there will be many AP upsets in the playoff brackets.

there is no doubt that giddings is a top 10 team. probably in top 5 in 3a. we played them earlier in the year and our coach said before the game that they were one of the top 3a teams in state.after i saw them dominate us i understood why he thought that.at that time i thought we were pretty good but we found out where we stood and what we needed to work on.
ap polls are not as good at judging team strengh as coaches. also teams that have been in top 10 before will make it easier.
another example is rice c. they are giddings equal and if they play that will be a barnburner.so ranking do not mean much because when it is all said and done teams get to prove it on the field.

What about Vernon and Graham? I think that at LEAST one of them should make the panhandle and west texas top ten. (You can't say that Vernon isn't in the panhandle, they're 15 miles from the corner)...
