Saw on TexasTrack.com that he ran a 10.16 in the 100m dash...Was anyone at the meet to clarify that and make sure it wasn't a typo?

I heard it was a 30 mph head wind NOT tail wind! j/k

Actually...the wind would have been out of the south and typically the 100 and 200 at Wylie's track (where district was held) would start on the north end of the track and run to the south. Maybe they chose to run it the other way...or I could just be totally losing my mind! :p

ya i know i was just saying thats all i have heard about it that would slow it down any but 10.4 even has to be one of the tops in the state if not the top

Just curious, does anyone know how his time in the 100 compares to other 3a kids?

10.45 in district 26-3A.
The leader of the race pulled up half way with a pulled hamstring... was up by a good margin

Actually the wind was alot higher in the prelims when he ran a 10.38 then on Thursday in the finals. Also remember when Tim Montgomery broke Maurice Greene world record it was wind aided and still a legal record, because like 1 poster stated fast is still fast.

Also last year Brandon James had the best 100 time in 3A ,When he ran a wind-aided 10.43 at the Texas Relays. The wind has to be gauged at over 2.0 to be consider wind-aided. 4.7 was the wind gauge on his time. convert that time to hand time : 10.19

That's good time...

Very good time...

Doesn't look like James and Green will go head to head in the 100, maybe 200, Green runnin' that...

Awesome time...

Running the 200 would have required a concious thought on the coaches part, so....................... guess what???? No, he didnt run the 200 at district. Amazing isnt it?!

Depends... is he better at short-bursts or long-distance???

Did Sweetwater have other heavy competitors in the 200 that could have gotten them 'enough' points to qualify for those events anyway?

Cuero made risks last year at district as well, didn't even win it... but it all worked out in the end...

No, it was a bad call from the get go with Sweetwater. It's been painfully obvious all season, we were just 1 leg short of matching what our relay teams did last year.
Skye is great in the 200m. He had the fastest time of all classifications at the Jesuit Relays in the 200. Even in the 100, he is usually behind for the first 30 or 40m, then finds one more gear that most kids just dont have. In my opinion, the 200 is tailor made for him. They just dont let him run it very often, because of the relays.

In Cuero this year they've let James run the 200 but not the 100... They would let him run both like last year but they want to save him for the relays... The reason he's in the 200 and not 100 is that we have two that run the 100 very well and can qualify yet are not as good in the 200...
