The Tigers dominated the Jr High meet. The district split the 8 teams into a North and South zones. Rockdale, Hutto, Manor and Cameron were in the north zone. The Tigers won the 8th grade boys and girls titles and the 7th grade boys title as well.

On the boys side these classes are loaded with athletes. No real speed burners but all around good athletes. My son (an 8th grader) was injured and couldn't compete. At the last meet (Giddings) he won the Discus, High Jump, 6th place in the 400, and ran the second leg (59 sec split) on the 2nd place mile relay. I think he accounted for 27 points. And he plays DE and TE during Football season. It sure killed him to sit this one out but he was there cheering his team mates on.

At the district meet Rockdale 8 grade boys still won 1st in the discus and the high jump. Kids just rose up to the challenge and got the job done. good group of kids. They were 50 points ahead going into the 400 meters.

Rockdale Boys finished 4th overall, 15 points behind the first place team. I was impressed, we really picked it up a notch. Our very own Kortlin White was 6th in the 100m dash, running a 10.9, and is only a sophomore. That was the only real notable thing that I recall.

How high did the girl pole vaulter go?? Coach Saegert still the track coach??? Go Tigers!!!

She got 12'5" on pole vault and won the 100 M dash.
