First, Tracy McGrady. Now, Yao. The Houston Rockets are ready for the summer.

Yao Ming, the Rockets' All-Star center and leading scorer among the active players, broke his left foot Monday in the first quarter of an 85-83 loss to the Utah Jazz. With the playoffs well out of reach and just four games remaining, Yao's fourth season in the NBA appears to be over.

Like it really mattered. These guys need to go out and get some serious role players before next year. And then pray for some good health.

Man, when it rains it pours for the Rockets. Im glad this happened at the end of the season instead of the beginning or middle or things could be a TON worse.

I don't know if sometimes maybe in the long run things like that are better happening at the beginning of year since you know they won't make the playoffs this year. I think it was 1997 when the Spurs who were a strong playoff contending team had a lot of injuries to David Robinson and others and because of the injuries they went from a playoff contender to a last place team. They got to flip for the first round draft pick and won and selected Tim Duncan with the pick. David and the others got well and the rest is history.

this also ends the Mavericks SLIM chances of overtaking the Spurs as the #1 seed in the Western Conference. Since San Antonio edged out Memphis the other night, the Mavericks had to have either a) the Spurs lose to the Rockets and the Mavericks win out or b) the Spurs lose 2 more games (out of 5) than the Mavericks out of their remaining games.

Since the All-Star break, Yao has been averaging 26 point, 12 rebounds and shooting around 88 pct from the free throw line. He was leading all centers in points scored.

I saw the replay on sportscenter and it didn't look like he tweaked it enough to do any damage. I'm not saying he didn't break it, but it just looked minor.
