What teams around the state are on the bubble to go up to 4A next year?
D/FW area probably will see Aledo go to 4A, maybe Everman and Forney too.

In 24-AAA, Stafford should go up. There a 3A school right smack in the middle of Houston. Wharton will be borderline but probably stay down and remain one of the biggest 3As in the state.

hard to know where they will draw the line. it seems to change every year. Forney is a growing community for sure. Quinlan Ford spent a couple of years in 4a then dropped back down when the uil changed the cut-off numbers. they are a bit larger at this time than Forney. Surely the possibilities include Aledo, Forney, Quinlan, Everman(moving back up)Pinkston in Dallas depending on the new enrollment lines there, Royse city is beginning to get the growth but i think they will stay 3a for at least 2 more years. its always interesting to see what the uil will come up with.

Aledo is almost a lock to go 4A...Everman is as well...Forney and Quinlan Ford are a lil dicey..Gainesville is also a possiblity..going from 4A down to 3A..Snyder is a lock..W-Orange Stark also....Celina and Pilot Point are both candidates to go 3A and Nevada Community is also almost a lock to move up to 3A..

Before Aledo moves up, Fort Stockton will have to. Abilene Wylie could move up, as could Lamesa. Wouldnt it be interesting it WO-S moved down?

Yeah...Forney will most likely remain in 3a after this year's realignment. They are still under the limit. And remember, the limit seems to go up every year, it never seems to go down. Look for Forney to remain in 3A for at least the next two years

good point....the limit does go up..and I have heard it may go as high as 950...which would keep Everman, Forney and Aledo all at 3A...and yes W-Orange in 3A is scary...if that number starts to get even higher..you could see someone like Stephenville gettin close to 3A...right now they are at 971...have heard this year they have close to 1000 though

Current bar is placed at 845. Probably will not be the same for the next re-alignment. If it should the following numbers may be some help. I dont know which areas are growing and which are declining so ill just give the raw data gathered on the uil site.
These are 2001-2002 enrollemnt figures

REGION I
4aaa ft stockton 840
5aaa abilene wylie 799
7aaa aledo 837
7aaa springtown 828.5
8aaa alvarado 814

REGION II
9aaa lake dallas 777
10aaa dallas pinkston 825
10aaa everman 836
10aaa fw castleberry 823
10aaa fw carter riverside 821
10aaa fw diamond hill 804
10aaa wilmer hutchins 736
11aaa forney 721
11aaa quinlan ford 788
12aaa kaufman 829
12aaa mabank 817.5
12aaa wills point 786
14aaa lindale 747

REGION III
18aaa elgin 775
18aaa taylor 827
21aaa bridge city 794
24aaa stafford 821
24aaa wharton 818
24aaa needville 755

REGION IV
31aaa zapata 778

I left out several others in the low 700's
I did include forney because i know the city is growing and just because they are a hot AAA topic. I included wilmer hutchins in district 10 because they were the only team left without 800+ but they still have a large enrollment . There is a slight possibility that the intire district 10 will move up. Not quite sure how springtown and mabank got 1/2 a student. If i left someone out im sorry and i hope i didnt use to much bandwidth for this post.

10-3A does have some high enrollment figures..but I only see Everman and Pinkston as possibilites of moving up..the others all have shrinking enrollments...

if the top goes up to 950 as rumored what happens to the bottom? From 345 to what or does it stay in the 350 range? A 950 school playing a 350 has some definite advantages.

If the bar does go up to 950 or even 900 which is more likely then the minimum bar would also go up..probably to somewhere around 400 or so....

You think W-O-S would be a top 10 team if they moved down???????? http://bbs.3adownlow.com/ubb/smile.gif

If the minimum bar rises also then who will be looking to move down to 2a. I know Newton is a very small 3a school with about 385 in attendance. I also hear Jasper is close to the bar to move down from 4a.
