View Full Version : 19 Seconds Left in the Game

In two of UT's biggest games it was significant.
We all remember in the Rose Bowl game Vincent Young scored the winning td with 19 seconds left. Then he made the two point extra point conversion to give us a three point lead. Since time doesn't elapse on extra point conversions there was still 19 seconds left in the game.
Against Ohio State we had a 1 point lead with Ohio State having the ball near their own goal line. Aaron Harris tackled the qb giving us a safety for two points and a three point lead with 19 seconds left in the game. On the next play Ohio State tried an onside kick from their 20 and David Thomas immediately fell on it to give us the possession. Because there was no runback the time did not start so there were still 19 seconds left in the game which we easily ran out.

To summarize... a TD, 2 point conversion, safety and onside kick recovery in our two biggests games all with 00.19 left on the clock.

Phil, now i like reading your posts (well maybe not all these UT ones, but i dont really complain on them cause if Baylor won the title i'd be writing a post for that every day) but I have wonder do you just sit around reading stats for last football season???? Sometimes i just read your posts and wonder this, did some epiphany hit you as you read them this last time about the 19 second thing?

Actually I still watch the Rose Bowl or the last part regularly. I watch the Ohio State game once in a while and I was watching it the other night when I just realized after the safety about the 19 second thing.

So I'm not the only one that will watch an old game (only the games where my teams win . :D ) Cool fact about the 19 seconds!!

Did you get the 2006 Rose Bowl DVD? It had some cool extra footage. There is also a 2006 season highlight DVD.
