Lady Bulldogs, Gobblers defend 26-3A golf crowns

While Yoakum and Cuero left little doubt in the District 26-3A race, there will be a new face at the Region IV-3A Golf Tournament.
The Cuero Gobblers claimed their sixth straight boys title at Colony Creek Country Club, with the Yoakum Bulldogs finishing second.
Cuero claimed two of the top-three individual places to breeze to a 25-stroke win over the Bulldogs.
The Lady Bulldogs' A-team claimed the top-five individual places with Allison Guettner claiming the girls individual honors with an 84-80-164. Ashley Cumchal followed with an 84-81-165 and also leading Yoakum were Hope Koenning (83-85-168), Erin Daltry (85-86-171), and Helice Migl (88-87-175).
The Edna Cowgirls unseated the Yoakum B-team as the district runner-up Tuesday to earn a berth to the regional tournament along with the Yoakum Lady Bulldogs A-team. It is the first time in three years that Yoakum will not send both teams to the regional or state tournaments.
