4-3A District Golf

This Wednesday district 4-3A will tee it up in Snyder for the first round. Don't know too much about the team's from this district. Can any knowledgable posters fill me in on what to expect from this district? Results, Predictions, and whatnot?

Wylie - usually a good team on both sides but I'm pretty sure they are down from recent years with their best players being a freshman or sophmore
Sweetwater - usually a good team on the boys side...not sure on the girls
Snyder - usually a good team on boys side...GREAT team on girls side
Merkel and Clyde...they have up and down times so there is no telling...

snyder will win district by a landfall...they are ridiculously good.
wylie and us (merkel) are pretty close. wylie only beat us by around 18 strokes at shady oaks.
sweetwater shot tremendously well at shady oaks.
clyde has 2 golfers.

Sweetwater lost alot of good players the last two years to graduation on both the girls and boys, so they arent as strong as usual, but are capable of putting together some low rounds.

they shot well at shady oaks....beat us and wylie by a lot.

Shady Oaks is stroke eating son of a gun. Keep the ball in those skinny fairways, and you can shoot pretty well. But if you dont, its gonna be a long day. I love the course, but I try to fight the urge to pull out my driver when I play there.

yea we play a district round there....shady oaks tore our team up, lol.

Shady isnt going to be as tough as Fairway will be for the boys. Wylie plays out here once a week so they might have an advantage but they dont really have any upperclassmen who are serious golfers.

welllll....the district tourney today was atrocious. one of the teams (im not mentioning who) made 2 of our girls cry. which is totally uncalled for and yea basically we have no chance to make it out of district. our #1 choked, as she always does, and i actually had my best round this year :) drove 2 par 4 greens and birdie'd a few holes. :D

im actually not sure...they may be in second, that'd be the logical thinking, but im not sure how wylie did. the girl from sweetwater i played with shot an 80 but the wylie girls were scoring pretty good as well.

Boys golf team, Rees are 3rd at district tourney

SNYDER - Sweetwater is in third place after shooting a first-round 340 at the District 4-3A boys golf tournament on Wednesday at the Sammy Baugh Golf Course in Snyder.

Snyder, with a 306 total on its home course, has a comfortable lead in the team standings after the first leg of the 54-hole tournament. But Sweetwater - which hosts the second leg of the district tournament next Monday at Sweetwater Country Club - is only five strokes behind Wylie's second-place total of 335. Clyde (343) is in fourth place followed by Snyder JV (361), Wylie JV (367), Sweet-water JV (379), Merkel (419) and Merkel JV (530).

Sweetwater's girls, who are in second place at their district tournament after shooting a 338 Tuesday at Merkel, host the second leg of their 54-hole event next Tuesday at Sweetwater Country Club.

Loren Rees of Sweetwater is third among boys district medalists after shooting a 77. Rees trails only Blake Seale of Snyder (72) and Hunter Yates of Clyde (76). Other individu-al scores turned in by Sweet-water on Wednesday were by Travis Henson, 86; Garrett Cypert, 88; Cameron Camp-bell, 89; Adrian Rosas, 90; Jeff Ludlum, 93; Craig Cor-ley, 95; Lance Smith, 98; Erik Walker, 101; Cameron Law-rence, 121; and Matt Hord, 133.
