Cuero had a tough time with Refugio. It ended 2-0. Cuero's first team scored once and the second team scored 1.
cuero looked a lot better this week on defense. It held Refugio to about 183 yards of total offense 31 yards passing. The defense had 1 int. by Chris Taylor and one fumble recovery.

The offense looked pretty good at times but has to work on the blitzes. Brandon Mayes was sacked twice. It looked pretty good when he wasn't pressed too hard passing for 2-2 for 48 yards. Rushing was handled by three backs. Chris Taylor,Jeremy Powell, and Josh Quajardo. They totaled 198 yards rushing.
Should be a better test next week when they scrimmage Marlin.

we may have lost our best defensive lineman brandon price for the year in scrimage against shiner. took him to cuero hospital and may have broken his ankle.not confirmed yet.
good luck to cuero this year.i am sure when we play you guys it will be another down to the wire emotional game.

bd62 The paper did not list the time of the scrimmage. It ought to be in the paper this tuesday. I will post it on here.

Sorry to here about your team mate getting hurt. we hope he gets well soon.

Refugio was pretty tough. The 4th play of the scrimmage big 6'5" Dakota Williams DE hurt his knee and was being treated by the team doctor. Saw two others on crutches on the sidelines already.

Let's hope the Bulldogs and Gobblers don't have any more injuries.

Old Green, did Refugio stunt alot on D? It seems they did the same to Sinton. The coach quoted in the San Pat CN seemed to think that was unusual for the first scrimmage. They have alot of talent both ways though. That town could play with any 3-A (or 4-A) any day! LOL...
Good luck to your team this year!

Old Green, Refugio's D is pretty good, they gave Sinton fits with the blitzes. Offense had a hard time throwing the ball against them. Boy, they were HUGE too! Refugio should do pretty well this year. They will definitely make some noise.

Yeah, they blitzed a lot and did guite a few stunts. Refugio can play with anyone. They have good size and speed for a 2a school. their QB Jarvis Edwards is quick and fast.
