View Full Version : 3A Baseball Information Needed

While this site has been built around the common passion for 3A High School Football, I have discoverd quite a few on here who love 3A baseball almost as much, just as much, or more than 3A football.

But many of you are like me.....it is hard to find much information out there about baseball at the 3A level. Every time a poll comes out, it seems as though they have little information to go by and therefore have little credibility. There is just not much info out there. Heck, I can hardly get any information from our own district out here in West Texas.

I am attempting to gather websites that will at least give scores for all 3A schools. Whatever information I can get, alongside what everyone contributes on this site, can be summed up and passed on to the THBSCA site or to the THSBM site to help them.

Here's how you can help:

Pass on to me any website that your baseball team has that keeps up with their games. These could be:

1) Personal team web sites like Greenwood's www.greenwoodrangerbaseball.com or Brownfield's www.geocities.com/brownfieldcub/ Brownfield's site not only lists their games but games for other teams in their district (2-3A) and the latest standings.

2) Local online newspapers like the Fort Stockton Pioneer www.fortstocktonpioneer.com/. They only update once a week but at least you can find out their scores for the past week.

3) School websites that record the scores of the games. Monahans records about half of their games, but that is better than none at all www.mwpisd.esc18.net/mhs/Baseball/2004-2005/2005-2006/05-06%20Var%20Baseball%20Pg.htm#v_roster

4) Nearby newspapers that keep up with your team. For example, Abilene Reporter News keeps up with Abilene Wylie, Lubbock Avalance Journal keeps up with Lubbock Cooper and other surrounding towns.

The other thing you can do is post your school's games on the Downlow. pirate4state has been posting a thread on Tuesdays and Fridays so that you can easily post and find baseball scores.

Also, any commentary you want to give on your district's race could be very helpful. For example, I really appreciated seasick4's post on 20-3A baseball 20-3A Baseball (http://bbs.3adownlow.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42692) . That was really helpful to those who like 3A baseball in Texas.

Anything you can contribute would be appreciated

I'll be glad to help in any way. :)

You can find some scores at Caller.com (http://www.caller.com/), Victoria Advocate (http://www.thevictoriaadvocate.com/), Valley Star (http://www.valleystar.com/) or RGV sports (http://www.rgvsports.com/) and at My San Antonio.com (http://www.mysanantonio.com/). You may have to register, but these should give you a good idea at how Region IV is doing in baseball! ;)

Austin area scores might be found at http://www.statesman.com/sports/content/sports/highschools/index.html,, but the "updating" is pathetic to say the least.

The Liberty Hill schedules can be found on the high school website, http://www.libertyhill.txed.net/schools/highschool/hsathletics.htm. They are also shown in the local paper, along with write-ups each week at www.libertyhillnewspaper.com, then click on online issues. It's a weekly paper that comes out on Thursdays. The online version is fairly new and seems to be updated the Tuesday following print edition.

I was told that Iowa Park won 5-4 in Breck. Heatly pitched. TimesRecordNews was useless. No report on IP/Breck or Vernon/Graham from Friday night.

Iowa Park 5 Buckaroos 4 (Heatley pitched complete game)
Found it out in today's FW Star Telegram

I don't know about Graham and WF Hirschi final, but I heard Graham won 10-0. I am not sure on the final but that is what I heard. Vernon was idle Friday night.

Sounds like a good game. If I'm correct, that's Breckenridges first loss of the season.

Well, you guys have been helpful. Right now I have up to date results of 14 districts races in 3A baseball and I have most of these teams season records. Not all districts have started district play yet.

I wish I could post them but I am about to go out of town for two days. By the time I get back I will be behind again. At least it won't take so long to get them this time around.

j_dog, that's an awesome site on southeast baseball that I was totally unaware of. Thanks for sharing that info.

Most people were shocked when Lubbock Cooper came out as #10 in the last THSBCA poll with a 9-1 record. Well, evidently THSBCA got some bad information. Lubbock Cooper lost to Levelland yesterday 7-6 to go 1-1 in district and a season record of 9-8-1.

Also, word was passed around on the downlow earlier this week about Wharton's Coach Ciruti getting his 500th win. Friday, Carthage's Scott Lee got his 499th victory in their 9-1 win over Tatum. A victory over White Oak on Wednesday would bring him #500.

It was their first loss. They are now 13-1. On one hand, they have played quite a few 2A schools and entered three tournaments hosted by 2A schools. Their best win was probably Glen Rose, who might be slightly above average.

On the other hand they were beaten just 5-4 by a good consistent Iowa Park team.

I thought that was probably the thing. Still, I don't ever remember Breck having a decent baseball team, much less one that had a .500 record, so its good to know the new coach has been improving things.

Where is the new coach from? Is he a baseball guy... or a football coach turned baseball coach?
